02/12/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
02/12/16 18:03 Bey is a brown and white male american pitbull terrier who arrived as a stray surrender. Upon intake Bey was receptive to introduction and loose for all handling. Counselor was able to scan for microchip (negative) collar and photograph. Bey walked well on leash and was responsive to guidance.
02/21/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Bey is one half of the the most wonderful stray duo – Jay and Bey! I first met her on a very windy day and she seemed a little overwhelmed, but very much sought out comfort from me. On subsequent walks she has opened up to be very wiggly, affectionate and playful. She’ll prop her paws on my lap, briefly jump up at the start of our walks to give hugs, and loves to be pet. She is very easy to handle on leash, “sit”s for treats, and seems housebroken. She has been very mild-mannered with me, but will daintily play with a toy I toss. I’m told she really shines in playgroup and has been crowned a “playgroup rockstar!” Bey is truly beautiful inside and out — please come meet her a Brooklyn ACC!
02/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bey came in as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. At intake it was reported Bey was friendly and loose for all handling. During SAFER Bey came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was friendly and affectionate towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Bey follows the handler with her body low and fearful during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Bey was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Bey appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Bey greets the helper dog with a loose, wiggly body. She engages in playful paw slaps and chest bumps along with running/chase play. Bey is tolerant of a pushy male.
02/15/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Bey greets other dogs with a loose, wiggly body. She solicits and engages in high energy, rowdy play with body slams and paw slaps but takes appropriate breaks in play to keep the arousal level below threshold. Bey is incredibly tolerant of pushy males and hyper-motivated players and offers appropriate corrections for behavior that makes her uncomfortable. Due to her behavior in playgroup, the Behavior Department feels that Bey would be suitable in a home with a dog of any age or playstyle. ** Social Helper Dog ** When off leash with other dogs, Bey greets the helper dog with a loose, wiggly body. She engages in playful paw slaps and chest bumps along with running/chase play. Bey is tolerant of a pushy male. 2/17 update: Bey greets with a loose, wiggly body. She solicits and engages in high energy, rowdy play with another female and is tolerant of a pushy male, offering appropriate corrections for behavior that makes her uncomfortable. 2/18 update: Bey is very tolerant of dogs with any play style and engages in high energy play with several partners.
