12/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Unaltered, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 12/17/16 Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity:1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag:1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog is soft in body and eye, and moves his legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw. Flank Squeeze 1: 4. Dog growls Toy: 1. No interest Summary: Bernard displayed some social behavior towards the assessor though remained anxious throughout; he appears to become uncomfortable with some up-close handling. PLAYGROUP: Bernard was brought in as a stray so his past behavior around other dogs is unknown. When off leash at the Care Center, Bernard is persistently sexually motived with female dogs, mounting them after handlers interrupt and they offer correction. He is able to socialize with a male dog and tolerates the other male dog mounting him. The Behavior Department believes that Bernard would do best with other calm male dogs. Dog-dog interactions should be conducted to ensure compatibility. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 12/13/16 During his initial medical exam Bernard appeared tense and fearful. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_Place with a New Hope partner (Bernard may benefit best from placement with a New Hope rescue group who can further assess his behavior in a stable home environment.) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression

12/14/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Bernard was brought in as a stray so his past behavior around other dogs is unknown. 12/14: Bernard approaches the female greeter dog with a tense body, lowering his head to sniff and begins to whine and salivate. Once he is allowed into the pen he immediately becomes sexually motivated- licking excessively in and around her rear-end and attempting to mount repeatedly and not responding to handler interruptions or her dismissive body language. 12/16: When off leash with a male dog, Bernard displays soft and social body language. He is initially tolerant of the other male mounting him, but eventually offers soft corrections. 12/18: With a female dog, Bernard is persistently sexually motivated. He immediately mounts the female dog, becoming mouthy, and persists after the handlers interrupt.
