03/31/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
03/31/16 20:49 These 8 dogs were seized by police from an apt after their owner was evicted. They were left in the apt in crates. Police had given them dog food. They all were relaxed around each other. They would sniff each other and sometimes play with each other with loose, wiggly bodies. They were dirty on their undersides and rear ends, apparently soaked in urine. He had a super loose, wiggly body, open mouth, and wagging tail while we pet him, scanned him (-), collared him, and positioned him for pictures. He licked us.
04/10/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: My mother used to mix the bergamot fruit with lots of North African dishes. When I heard this name…my antennas went up…I had to meet this little guy…Bergamot is one of 8 pooches found abandoned in an empty apartment, boys and girls, middle aged or close to middle age, most of them quite thin and precariously cared for…Bergamot is all excited to see someone at his door. Bergamot pulls on the leash just like all of his housemates…He jumps for attention and treats that he takes politely from my hand. He can even sit on command. He does his business while in the yard but I can not say that he is perfectly house trained. He likes to be caressed and paid attention to. Other dogs…bring them on….Bergamot seems to like them a lot and prove that to us while in playgroup with his peers. Six year old Bergamot got a cold and therefore needs you tonight. He might not have gotten the best care but he surely is fit to have his place among us humans as a cherished and beloved forever best friend. Read about our boy, look at his photos and video and come tomorrow to meet him in person…Bergamot will be waiting for you, his heart full of hope.
04/06/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bergamot pulls a bit on the leash. he was excited during some of the handling items, but had soft body language. He followed the assessor at the end of the leash with a calm and relaxed body language when playing tag. Bergamot was easy to handle when chewing on toys. Bergamot did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that he can go to an Average home. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 2. Dog is active and focused on the Assessor and all other stimuli available. His body is soft, likely panting, likely to display high movement between attempts. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft, ears back, wagging tail, open mouth. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Bergamot greets politely, and engages in bouts of running play when solicited.
04/05/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Bergamot is social and playful with females (he has yet to be introduced to a male). He engages in running play and is respectful of dogs who are not comfortable. He came from a home with 7 other dogs, both sexes, but he arrived as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with them are unknown. The behavior department feels that Bergamot could go to a home with another dog that is also playful. When off leash with other dogs, Bergamot greets politely, and engages in bouts of running play when solicited. 4/6 update: Bergamot greets politely. He is a bit sexually motivated but mostly engages in gentle play.
