11/01/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: We always wonder what was the life of our pooches like before they reached us at the care center. Beret is a young man at ten months of age. He has gorgeous eyes, one blue and one that could not decide which color to go for, a horsey face, ears that go up only if something sudden happens, and a thin cinnamon and vanilla coat, covering a body which likely experienced many meal-less days. His feet are raw. Where did he hang around? He is needy for affection like a deprived child. He is a little all over the place, eating, kissing, wagging his tail at his caretaker and other dogs, enjoying all the attention and affection. Beret is quite endearing. I know he will settle down after a few days at the care center, his stomach full, safe in his den and loved by volunteers who will walk him daily. Beret will be a stunning and gorgeous dog once his shape is restored. Since I met Beret, I think often about him and so hope that a new person or family will offer him a loving home and the life he deserves as a respected and beloved forever best friend.

PLAYGROUP: When introduced off leash to other dogs in the care center, Beret engages in play when solicited. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 10/30/2016 During his initial medical examination, Beret readily allowed all handling without issue. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (Suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
10/31/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Beret has engaged with male and female dogs during his stay at the care center. He may attempt to mount (he is currently unaltered) but will typically greet all dogs politely then spend his time exploring his surroundings. He arrived as a stray, so any in-home behaviors with other dogs are unknown. The behavior team recommends slow introduction with any resident dogs in a future home. 10/31: When introduced off leash to other dogs in the care center, Beret engages in play when solicited. When the greeter dog stops soliciting, he becomes solely intent on mounting. 11/1: Beret is initially quiet and avoids approach today. When a select female is introduced into the pen, he attempts to mount her. 11/2: Beret continues to display yesterday’s behavior. 11/4: Beret greets other males politlely before going off to explore the yard. Eventually he approaches the neutered male and begins mounting; he does not cease with correction.
