02/27/2017 WEB MEMO
A staff member writes : This little fella has to be one of the happiest pups I’ve seen !! He is a spunky, silly, full of energy dog that anyone who winds up with him will have a blast. He is also very beatiful, please check him out. A volunteer writes: Bentley is all puppy! And one of the cutest ones, at that! While he isn’t in his best form quite yet-he’s much too thin and his coat needs a good grooming-it’s so clear to see what a gorgeous dog he will be with a little TLC! He has a bushy tail and little tufts of fur around his ears that make you just want to give him a good scratch. On the day I photographed him, he looked so dapper in a sweater that a staff member put on him and his bow tie just added to his style. Bentley has a lot of energy, and after he relieved himself, he was quick to chase a ball, but doesn’t seem to want to keep up the game for too long. It’s no surprise that Bentley loves food and is eager to please. While he doesn’t know too many commands just yet, it’s apparent that this smart boy can be taught just about anything. Bentley will likely do best as the only dog in the home, but with his stellar good looks, fun loving personality and willingness to keep you content, he’s all the dog you’ll need. Ask to meet him today!

When greeting a novel female dog at the Care Center, Bentley begins to whine and hard stare at the female. Once allowed into the pen, Bentley rushes towards the female, jumping on her back and biting. His behavior is unable to be interrupted by the handlers. The session is ended. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 2/20/17 Bentley was friendly and allowed all handling during exam. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Bentley, so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience (Suitable for an adopter with a previous amount of dog experience) _X Single-dog home/Recommend no dog parks (Due to Bentley’s immediate reactive towards another dog, the Behavior Department recommends that he not be placed in a home with other dogs at this time. Reward-based, force-free training can be utilized to help Bentley associate other dogs with things he enjoys like toys or treats.)
