MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 11/19/16 During his medical examination, Bentley tolerated most handling though snapped towards the handler upon receiving vaccines. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: New Hope Only _X_No children (under 13)(Because of some handling sensitivity displayed during his stay at our care centers, we advise against a home with children at this time.) _X_Place with a New Hope partner (Bentley has attempted to snap multiple times during his stay at our care centers, for this reason, we believe Bentley would benefit best from placement with a New Hope rescue group who can further assess this behavior in a stable environment.) Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Bentley has displayed defensive behavior during his stay at our care centers. It is recommended that Bentley be allowed a proper time to decompress to aid in acclimating him to a new environment. Force-free, reward based training is advised when introducing/exposing Boots to new and unfamiliar situations.)

PLAYGROUP: According to Bentley’s previous owner, when Bentley comes across other dogs he lunges, growls & barks. Bentley does not play with other dogs and displays aggressive behavior towards them. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Bentley displays sexually motivated body language when meeting a novel female dog -standing on his toes, focusing on the female and displaying a high, vibrating tail. Once in the pen, Bentley persistently licks the female’s genital area, but does not attempt to mount. He is tolerant of the female’s face to face greetings and play solicitations and eventually explores the pen. When greeting a calm neutered male, Bentley initially ignores the other male and explores the pen. When he approaches the other dog and begins to sniff him, he displays slightly stiff body language but is able to listen to handler interruptions and continues to explore.
