03/16/16 15:18 Benny is a 3 year old neutered Malshipoo. He was purchase since a puppy by owners from a breeder. He is being surrendered into our facility due to personal problems. In December he had a urinary infection and was subscribed specific Science Diet food UD/SD and it was mixed with other dry food. With strangers is friendly but will bark at first then calm down. He is gentle when he plays. No experience with children. He lived with a male aged 4.5 years old same breed; and they always played together was relaxed and playful. No experience with other dogs, when he sees them on the street he growls at them. No known history of him biting another person or animal. Occasionally he pees in the home, but is provided wee wee pads. During fireworks he tends to shake. Your able to touch his food bowl while he is eating, he isn’t bothered when objects or treats are being taken away; he can mistake it for playing and begin to tug. He has gone to the groomer for baths and nails trims was reported to do well with both. Isn’t bothered when being held or restrained. When unfamiliar people approach you or the home he may bark. Benny is described as independent, with a very high activity level. His favorite activity is sleeping or following his owners around the house or sitting gin the kitchen; because it where he eats. He like chew bones, and eats dry food mixed with Science Diet SD/UD because of his past Urinary Infection. He sleeps in a pen with a crate inside with the choice of the crate or sleeping on the pillow. His favorite treats are dry chicken. He is mostly house trained, but rarely has any accidents. When left alone in the house he is in the pen, in the yard he is well behaved and enjoys the outside time while running for exercise. He has no experience on a leash. For potty he had the training pads or goes on the wooden deck. During intake Benny was nervous and started to shake, but handling was allowed by counselor to scan (positive), collar and photograph.

03/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Benny previously lived with 2 adults. The owner stated Benny is friendly with strangers but will bark at first then calm down and he is gentle when he plays. The owner describes Benny as independent. The owner mentioned Benny is housetrained, with a medium activity level and is well behaved when home alone in his pen or his yard. It was reported by the owner Benny lived with another dog same breed and they was relaxed and playful all the time. At intake it was reported benny was nervous and trembling, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Benny came into the assessment room nervous and timid, he was not interested with the assessor. Not all tactile items were able to be conducted as Benny bared his teeth at the assessor when attempting to pet him. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When benny is in the pen with other dogs he does not greet them but will allow the dogs to sniff him. He becomes tense and give whale eyes when ever a handler is near him.
