Medical Summary scanned negative. Lethargic, sternally recumbent, MM light pink and tacky. CRT 2 s. Moderate dental disease. EENT: bilateral deep corneal ulcer L>R. Corneal hyperemia OU, conjunctivitis OU, scleral injection OU, mucopurulent d/c OU. Clear ears. H/L: no obv murmur. bounding pulses s/s. lungs clear and eupneic. Abd: soft and non painful. no palpable masses; M/S: generalized muscle wasting, weakly ambulatory, no obv lameness, palpable spinous process; I: Thinning alopecia haircoat. Multiple patches of crust on dorsum.
A: Dehydration; Vaginal d/c r/o vaginitis vs complicated UTI vs pyelonephritis vs stump pyometra; Descemetocele OU; Lethargy
Plan: Baytril 2ml IM (45mg); IV Catheter; LRS 100 ml bolus IV; LRS 22ml/hr
PROFILE :
Benjina is a eight year old spayed Shih tzu. She was surrendered by her owner due to medical issues and cost of care. She was brought from a petstore and has been with her owner since she was a puppy.
Benjina has lived with one adult in her previous home. She is described as friendly around strangers and will engage in gentle play. She has spent time with a twelve year old and is described as relaxed and playful with the child, she will engage in gentle play. She has spent time with other small dogs and is described as relaxed and will engage in gentle play. She is respectful around cats according to owner. Benjina has never bitten another animal or person.
Benjina will hide when she hears thunder or during fireworks. Benjina loves baths and being brushed. She does not mind when her food is touched while eating. She is not bothered when her nails are trimmed and was taken to the groomers. When a stranger approaches her home she is quiet and will stay hidden. Owner stated she rarely barks.
Benjina has been kept only indoors and likes to play with balls and squeaky toys. Benjina is housetrained and rarely has accidents indoors. She is walked twice a day and loves to stroll in her pet stroller. She eats Beneful brand dry food and loves bacon treats. Benjina is used to off leashed walks and stays close to her owners side.
Upon intake Benjina was lethargic and taken to medical. Limited handling during intake. Cousnelor was able to collar, scan (positive) and photograph.
