03/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ben was brought in our care center by the owner son with limited information. The owner son stated Ben lived with him for 2 months. It was reported by the owner son Ben has a previous bite history, where he bit 5 people and he said all cases were when people would try to pet him and stated ben does not like to be pet and will snap. The owner son does not know if skin was punctured. At intake it was reported was tense with firm body language and his tail tucked, he initially snapped at the counselor, all handing was done with a muzzle. During SAFER Ben came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, he was social towards the assessor with a slow approach. He allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Ben was fearful with his body low and he would also whine during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment ben was easy to handle when engaged with the item. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a New hope partner who can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is between his legs, body tense, mouth closed. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Ben greets appropriately and engages in gentle running play with a few of the other dogs.
03/13/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
