10/19/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: One comment on Bella Ruse’s walk log reads “Pure love and sweetness. I can walk her forever”…and that about sums it up! She is truly wonderful! She has brief moments where she seems a little timid, but Bella Ruse absolutely loves people. I think she’s won over every single one she met! She pulls some on the leash, seems housebroken, and has previously lived harmoniously with another dog. We’re told she has a lot of energy, is well behaved when left alone, and plays gently with children. She is incredibly attentive and cuddly in a very mild-mannered way. She flops over for belly rubs, bats her paw at me to hint that it doesn’t have to end just yet, and will push the entire weight of her head into my lap. Not only is she sweeter than sugar, Bella Ruse is also very beautiful! She looks like she’s made of velvet and sports a Mona Lisa smile. Bella Ruse is looking for a home, and I bet yours could be much better with her in it…come meet her today!

Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed or back. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed or back. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog may smell or lick, then turns away. Summary: Bella Ruse was highly social and interactive with the assessor. She allowed all handling without issue, though she seemed markedly uncomfortable when stood or leaned over, even briefly. She also flinched and backed away when the toy was tossed toward her, even though it was presented and squeaked first. She recovered quickly in all instances and shows good coping skills, but this is a response to be aware of and future adopters should take care to note the situations that make her uncomfortable and avoid them whenever possible. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: According to Bella Ruse’s previous owner, Bella Ruse has lived with another Pitbull terrier and is described as relaxed and playful, she will engage in exuberant play. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Bella Ruse displays soft body language when socializing with male dogs, displaying look aways when they approach her and not engaging in play when they solicit play. She also met a female dog but her body was slightly stiffer as she followed her around. The Behavior Department believes that Bella Ruse would be most comfortable as the only dog in the home, however a dog-dog interaction can be conducted to assess Bella Ruse’s comfort level.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 10/13/16: During her initial medical examination, Bella Ruse was attention-seeking and tolerant of all handling and restraint. She even responded to some basic commands.
