A volunteer writes:

Copper eyes lined with mascara , shining amidst the red markings of her face.. They steel the show and make her look so feminine, naughty and so attractive and yes, she truly deserves her name…Bella… Six year old Bella is with us as her  busy owner had no time for a pet anymore, I guess, mostly with a large one that is house trained and needs to be taken out for walks…We are told that  she was very friendly to strangers, loved to play with her four human children, enjoyed baths, had no handling issues and was very affectionate and active. She seems to have been well cared for , appearing healthy and perfectly groomed. Bella is a pleasure to be with. She is poised, calm although lively, walks beautifully on the leash, sits readily on command and takes treats very politely from my hand. She does give paw, right and left . She is a very good listener and absolutely wants to make her caretaker happy and proud of her. Bella comes immediately when called, sits  in front of me and poses her head in my lap for caresses. Their is such an aura around her that spells: Loving and Faithful  Family Dog. I bet that she would make the best  buddy given the chance to start her life all over again with a new master.  According to her former owner, Bella was timid and alert around other dogs and her first encounter, leash free in a pen with a male made her a little nervous. Not every dog around has been socialized with his/her peers and if needed, Bella might need some teaching in that department. Bella has my vote.I see her as  an amazing forever best friend, the pooch who would never let me down, the ideal companion for all adventures.Come and meet Bella at the Manhattan Care Center.

PROFILE:

Basic information:

Bella is a   6 yr. old rotti mix. Bella was surrendered due to no time. Client stated that she found Bella 2 months ago. Bella has never suffered any health issues or injuries while with the previous owner. Bella has been to the vet recently for a round of shots.

Socialization:

Around strangers Bella is friendly and playful. Bella has lived in a home with 4 children. Bella was super playful and affectionate with them. She has spent limited to no time with dogs or cats. The previous owner stated she is timid and alert around other animals.

Behavior:

Bella has never bitten anyone or animal. The owner stats that Bella is not bothered when some moves her food or treats while she is eating, when someone takes her toys away or when someone disturbs her while sleeping. Bella loves to be brushed and given bathes. Bella enjoys playing with the water. When an unfamiliar persona approaches the front door , she will growl however, once the door opens she greets them with a soft body.

For a new family to know:

The owner describes Bella as friendly, affectionate and playful with a very high activity level. Her favorite activity is to play fetch with his owner. In the home Bella tends to follow the owner around the house and is kept outdoor & indoors. Bella sleeps in the floor in the living room. Bella was fed soft and dry foods mix together , 2x a day. She  is house trained and has never had an accident in the home. Bella knows the commands “sit “and “stay” and paw.

Behavior during intake:

Bella was relaxed and respectful upon intake. Bella allowed all handling. ( scanned negative).

Playgroup:

10/23: When introduced off leash to other dogs at the care center, Bella is nervous when approached by the male helper dog.  She approaches and sniffs him when he is turned away, however lip curls when approached face to face.  Her previous owner describes “She has spent limited to no time with dogs or cats. The previous owner stated she is timid and alert around other animals.”

If you are local to the Tri-State, New England, and the general Northeast United States area, and you are SERIOUS about adopting or fostering one of the animals at NYC ACC, please read our MUST READ section for instructions, or email helpdogs@urgentpodr.org. Our experienced volunteers will do their best to guide you through the process.

* We highly discourage everyone from trusting strangers that send them Facebook messages, offering help, for it has ended in truly tragic events.*
