04/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bella previously lived with 1 adult. The owner stated Bella is friendly and rough when she plays. The owner mentioned Bella is reactive with cats she will try to catch them. It was reported by the owner when you try to touch her food bowl or take objects and treats away from her she will growl. The owner also stated Bella is house trained, has a medium activity level and will bark and whine when home alone. At intake it was reported Bella had very loose body posture, she allowed all handling. During SAFER Bella came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, she was friendly, playful and affectionate towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Bella joins the game during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Bella was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns with resource items, the behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children and we recommend no cats in the household. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor once play begins. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Her eyes are averted and her ears are relaxed. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog smells, then turns away. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Bella, although hesitant at first, approaches the gate with a low, loose and neutral body. However, once allowed in the pen to greet she responds to the helper dogs soft approach and sniff with a hard correction- teeth bare and bark. In response to being interrupted by the handler, Bella turns her head toward the handler and bares her teeth while barking.
