A volunteer writes: Beautiful, brave Bella! There is something so, so sweet about this delicate lady (not to mention something so, so cute about her little face!). She was with her previous family since she was eight week old, so it’s no wonder at times she can be a little unsure in this strange new place. She pulls on leash, seems housebroken, and does a little celebratory lap around me after she’s relieved herself. She was shy with me at first, but has warmed up to be very wiggly, affectionate and playful. She’ll hang out on my lap, chase tennis balls, and show off her “paw” for treats. Aside from a tendency to guard her toys, she comes with amazing notes from her former owner. She is said to have a low activity level, know basic commands, and to be friendly and gently playful with people. She was respectful when around other dogs, lived harmoniously with a cat and even tolerated children pulling on her tail and ears — what a good girl! I rarely see Bella on her bed and instead find her quietly standing or sitting at the front of her cage — maybe you’re who she’s been waiting for! Come check her out at Brooklyn ACC!

SAFER: EXPERIENCED HOME, NO CHILDREN (3/15/16):
Bella previously lived with two adults and has been around the owner grandchildren. The owner stated Bella is relaxed and tolerant towards the children, she is also relaxed and respectful around other dogs and the cat she previously lived with. It was reported by the owner when Bella is playing with her toys she cannot be bothered and will growl. The owner mentioned Bella is house trained and has a low activity level.
At intake it was reported Bella was calm and allowed all handling. During SAFER Bella came into the assessment room calm and relaxed, she was shy but friendly towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Bella follows with her body low and fearful during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Bella was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Due to some concerns stated from the previous owner when Bella is playing with her toys she cannot be bothered and will growl, so the behavior department feels she can be suitable for an experience adopter with no children.
