Bella
Hello, my name is Bella. My animal id is #10432. I am a female black dog at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 7 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 22-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving – no pets allowed.
Bella is at risk due to being diagnosed with Canine Upper Respiratory Disease Complex as well as her chronic skin issues. She will most likely require in home care with a course of antibiotics and care for her skin. We recommend Bella be the only dog in her home due to dog to dog concerns shown in the care center.
A Little Bit About Me…
A volunteer writes: Sweet Bella came to us , surrendered by her family. Bella came right away to her door when she saw me , ready for company A good walker she is, making sure to do her business outside her kennel. She eyes the pigeons and even hints at giving them a chase. I was so surprised. She pulls slightly toward other dogs while on the leash but free in a pen, she seemed to enjoy very much a female her size on the other side of our gate as well as a little dog, play bowing and wagging her tail. She was not at all fond of a male she met in a playgroup. She might need to be the only pooch in her new household.Bella has carried many litters in her seven years of life. Her physical condition seems to have taken a toll, may be partly as a result. Her skin is thick, gravelly and wrinkled, her calluses , numerous and her pads are sore, causing her to slightly limp. Still, her beauty shines through because her soul is so gentle. I know that once well cared for, well fed and loved, Bella’s raggedy look will make room for the one of a queen. She is really a gorgeous dog and must have been very attractive in her very young and healthy years. It is not easy to take good pictures of Bella. She explores a lot but mostly likes to stick to her caretaker …. Bella is a velcro dog. I walk, she walks. I sit, she sits… Stuck to me like with “Gorilla Glue”. She is so sweet, needy, not voracious for treats although she could be, wags incessantly her tail, welcomes staff joining us…and loosens up, relaxes as we get deeper into our encounter. Bella’s physical condition needs mending, that’s a given . With your help, her health will recover and finally match her inner beauty. Bella is so waiting to meet you and to start a new and happy page in her life.
