A volunteer writes:
I waited days and days to spend time with BellaRose and finally, my wish was granted…She is a very big girl, statuesque in her alabaster dress, much too thin and who has this “offended” look while in her kennel: “What am I doing in here, really, a gal of my lineage and size ?” She gestures with her runway model’s long legs…”Let’s go out!!!!” We are of course in the street in no time..Bellarose attends to business right away. We then sail surprisingly smoothly along 110th street, no pulling involved. She spots incoming dogs, tail high from far away and as I am not yet too familiar with her, we do not seek close contact. Bellarose was brought back to us as she got into a squabble over a treat with the adopter’s own dog. No dog will ever share a treat… Two dogs…two treats…It is only fair and mostly safe…Bella Rose sits on command and takes tasty kibbles politely from my hand. She very much likes to be petted and leans on me for more caresses as we become more accustomed to each other. I clean her eyes and admire the pink lining of her ears, so soft and silky. Bellarose is really a majestic dog who could not walk incognito even if she wanted to…All eyes are on her, in and out the care center…It never happened to me…but now, walking with Bellarose , I can pretend it does…Back in the adoption quarters, Bellarose spots a favorite adoption counselor. She kisses him and simply sits on his lap while accepting more kisses from other staff…Bellarose is quite a character with lots of personality. Sociable, friendly, affectionate, needy and pushy….Bellarose is not of course your average pooch. She belongs to a connoisseur of the breed and an experienced adopter or foster. Bellarose is waiting for you at the Manhattan Care Center. She dreams to win your heart , grow roots and build memories with you as your forever best friend.

Our experienced volunteers will do their best to guide you through the process. * We highly discourage everyone from trusting strangers that send them Facebook messages, offering help, for it has ended in truly tragic events.* For more info on behavior codes and ratings, please click here: http://information.urgentpodr.org/acc-placement-status-descriptions.
