08/02/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Beeny came into the shelter on 7/29/16. His behavior upon intake is unknown. During SAFER Beeny came into the assessment room calm he was mellow. Beeny had a tense body posture when interacting with the assessor, he allowed the look, and sensitivity, items to be done while maintaining a tense body posture. Beeny was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment. Beeny appears to be sociable, not all handling items were able to be conducted as Beeny bared his teeth at the assessor during paw squeeze. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue that can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is tense and uncomfortable; his tail is above his spine and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, his tail is above his spine with body tense, mouth closed, ears back. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog mouths the leash in a playful manner. Squeeze 1: 5. Dog freezes and lip curls. Toy:1:4 Dog freezes and bares teeth. Dog Dog:When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Beeny is a bit nervous, greeting the other dog with a tucked tail. He displays bouncy body language as he interacts with the greeter dog.
