01/15/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/15/17 14:34 Rocco is friendly and outgoing towards strangers. He has lived with kids, ages 4 and 5, and is relaxed and playful with them. He plays gently with both adults and children and has lived with one dog, a Lab. Rocco is relaxed and playful with the other dog and they play gently with each other. He has seen his neighbor’s cat when outside but he never tries to go after her, he just watches and is respectful of her space. He has never bitten another animal or human. During loud noises such as fireworks, Rocco becomes nervous and will hide in his owner’s room (she does not have windows in it). He isn’t bothered when his owner takes away his food bowl or treats and will think they’re playing if it’s a toy being taken away. He doesn’t mind being pulled off of furniture but has never been restrained from something he wants so it’s unknown how he would react. When he’s awoken from his slumber, Rocco remains unbothered but will look at you with a confused face. He tolerates baths and loves being brushed. He stays still for nail clipping and isn’t bothered when someone unfamiliar comes towards his home or humans. Rocco’s owner describes him as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, and mellow. He has a medium activity level but when he’s ready to play, enjoys fetch with sticks, tugging and chewing on bones, and playing with balls. His owner loves how obedient, playful, and protective (but never aggressive) he is with his family. When his owner is home, he follows her around the house. Rocco has the choice to stay inside or go outside with his doggy door. When inside though, he likes sleeping in his doggy bed or on the couch in the living room. He’s very house-trained and never has any accidents inside. He enjoys going potty outside, anywhere he can pick up a scent. When Rocco’s left alone in his house and his yard, he is very well-behaved. He was crate-trained but doesn’t need it anymore and knows sit, stay, come here, and down. Rocco is also bilangual and knows some of the commands in Spanish! For exercise he enjoys going on hikes, slow walks on leash, and running around in the yard. He doesn’t pull when on-leash. Rocco’s owner feeds him Pedigree (chicken flavor) about 1 cup, 5 times a day. His favorite treats are apples.

A volunteer writes: There are some dogs you never forget, even when they come back months later. Rocco is one of those dogs. Breathtakingly handsome, he’s quiet and serene, which is exactly how I remember him. Housetrained, good on leash, he still loves butt scratches and still does the best butt scratch shuffle, then leaning in close for petting. Coming back to us due to his person’s personal problems, we’re told that he lived with two kids ages 4 and 5 and was relaxed and playful with them, played gently with the other dog (a Lab) in the home, is scared of loud noises such as fireworks and will hide, doesn’t guard his stuff, tolerates baths and loves being brushed. We’re also told he’s “very” housetrained, his favorite treats are apples, he’s well behaved when left home alone and is affectionate and mellow. Rocco is awesome, gentle, calm and easy…a dog you can tell your deepest secrets to and will love you no matter what. Quiet, thoughtful and a ‘go with the flow’ kind of pup, he’s ready to meet his new person or family for a happily ever after. Let’s make it happen today.

05/06/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/06/16 15:32 Beckford A1072694 was found tied inside of an apartment building on 5/4/2016. The finder stated that he took him home and has been caring for him for the past couple of days. He owns 2 dogs of his own and said that Beckford was friendly with them. There were also children in the home and he played gently with them. He fed him pedigree wet food, 2 cans per meal because he appears thin. He was very friendly with the finder and allowed all handling. Behavior during intake Beckford was very relaxed and allowed to be pet. I approached him and scanned him(-). He allowed me to collar himand he was positoned for photographs. I sat with him as we waited for him to be examined and he let me rub his head and his belly. He sat patiently when told and observed his surroundings. He was then walked and transferred into a kennel.

A volunteer writes: One look at Beckford and I knew I’d fall in love…and I did. I love the quiet ones…the ones with deep thoughts, soft feelings, easy leash manners and quiet snuggles. Beckford is my man! He’s stunning, and as we leave his area walking by some loud barking dogs seems to make him a bit nervous. Once outside he potties immediately and we have a great walk to the park. When Beckford stops to look at some squirrels I wonder if he’s thinking – oh look, Mini Me (with a bushy tail)! I had been told that this handsome pup LOVES butt scratches and indeed he does! He positions himself perfectly, backing in, turning around to look at me….and the butt scratch shuffle starts! Beckford comes when called, joins me on the bench to hang out and then jumps down asking for another butt scratch. He’s an awesome dog waiting to begin his happily ever after…..shouldn’t it be with you?
Another volunteer writes: Beckford is the perfect name for this sophisticated gentleman. He is calm, collected and well mannered. Easily leashed and removed from his kennel, he does all his business outside. Delightful outside, Beckford makes an easy walking companion when we stroll through the park. Handsome in his grey coat and close cropped ears, he has an air of confidence and good nature–acknowledging his admirers whether 2 or 4 legged–and continuing on his stroll. Free in a pen, Beckford is happy to show off his “sit” and takes treats politely. After a while he reveals that even this cool, handsome hunk has a weak spot and butt rubs are his! A rousing episode evokes a silly grin and bended body, and he gives himself over to the joy of the moment. It’s fabulous to see, and I know this handsome fellow is much more than just good looks. The seal has been broken and the truth is revealed! Beckford is looking for a new best friend to call his own–come meet him today.
05/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Beckford walks calmly on leash. He was shy during the assessment – low body and tail, but trying to stay close. Beckford had a low body position during the tag test, but followed the assessor at the end of the leash. He was not interested in toys. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. Beckford is somewhat fearful and needs time to warm up to the handler. We cannot be certain if behavior may be suppressed as a result of the shelter environment. Please note that behavior may change when Beckford is more comfortable and settled in a home environment. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. His body posture is stiff and fearful; his tail is low and not moving. He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 2. Dog accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, shy body language, mouth closed, lip long, ears likely back, may lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body low and a bit fearful. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy 1. No interest.
