ZULA aka BEAUTY – A1068367

“Wiggelbutt” might not be a nice way to qualify a young lady but it is the first thing that comes to mind looking at Zula…She is a major tail wagger too….Let’s not forget, though that she is a lovely dumpling  or a polypocket as a staff called her, so pretty in her perfect silvery dress and so sweet with her dreamy eyes. What’s not to love about Zula ? She seems to be the perfect  munchkin, in love  with everybody, two or four legged creatures…She runs to people’s arms and enjoys her time in playgroups with her peers. Meet and greet is her moto…She is a pleasure for the eyes and a blessing to spend time with. A real bundle of joy and such an easy going gal. Zula is said to be two year old but looks and acts like a very well behaved puppy. She walks beautifully on the leash, does her business on the way, sits on command and does not go after the pigeons…Zula has my vote (and not only mine) and I hope that she will have yours too.. Come and meet her soon at the Manhattan Care Center and make her ..yours.

Another volunteer writes:   An itty bitty pocket pittie!  Add to the mix, gorgeous, sexy, tail waggy, affectionate (loves to give kisses and hang out on a lap), friendly, loves to play with other dogs, and gorgeous bears repeating….and we have a rockstar little peanut looking to find a new person or family to love.   I was told by the behavior team that when she was in the behavior room for her assessment, every time he would get up from his chair she would jump in and curl up, happy as a clam!   How cute is that!  Zula joined me on the bench, gave me kisses, draped herself in my lap and then did a semi roll over for a belly rub.  As other dogs passed our pen she greeted them happily and in group play  she does well with both males and females, soft and playful.   She’s a rockstar little girl who our behavior team feels will do well in a home with average dog experience.   Someone is going to be very lucky…..shouldn’t it be you?

BEHAVIOR:

Zula walks calmly on leash. She was sociable toward the handler during the assessment – soft body, low wag.  Zula was calm and relaxed during handling.  She was distracted, focused on objects in the room rather than the handler during the tag test. Zula was not interested in toys.

Zula did not show any concern during the behavior assessment. The behavior department feels that she can go to an Average home.

Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.

Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth.

Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful but unresponsive when touched. Approaches the Assessor when the game ends. Dog is likely crouching, may have long lip or lip lick.

Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds.

Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds.

Toy 1: No interest.

 Playgroup Notes:

When off leash with other dogs Zula is soft and playful. She will run with the other dogs, male and female, and roll onto her back during play.

3/25 update:  Zula continues to be social and playful with males and females. She offers muzzle punches and paw slaps to solicit play. She does not offer correction when mounted but will attempt to get away.
