02/28/15 12:18 NAME: Beauty REASON FOR SURRENDER The owner does not have the time to take proper care of Beauty. RELATIONSHIP The owner’s family member found Beauty loose in the street a little over a year ago. They could not locate an owner so she stayed. She is not chipped and her true age is unknown. PEOPLE Beauty has lived with an adult, but has children in the family and she approached everyone, jumps up, and is attention seeking of everyone. OTHER ANIMALS It is unknown how Beauty does with other dogs, but she chases cats. PERSONALITY/HABITS Beauty is an inside dog with a medium activity level. She has not been throughly potty trained so she spend long days tied in the kitchen of her house (next to a heater) while her human is gone at work (7 days a week). Otherwise she will have accidents all over the home. She is very excited when her owner comes home. When owner is home, Beauty has no potty accidents. She enjoys squeaky toys and plays with them by ripping them up. The owner states she isn’t bothered if you touch her food bowl while she is eating or take her rawhide or toy away. She enjoys bath time ( her owner uses a garden hose). TRAINING Beauty knows sit, stay, and down according to the owner. MEDICAL There are no known medical issues at this time. BEHAVIOR DURING INTAKE Beauty was panting and whining, but attention seeking and allowed hugs and all handling of the Admissions Counselor.

03/06/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Beauty came to us as an owner surrender on 3/1/15. She is reported to be friendly towards children and adults, and seeks attention from every one of all ages. Upon intake Beauty was seeking the attention of the adoptions counselor and allowed all handling. She allowed the assessor to complete all tactile items of the assessment without displaying any signs of aggression, and was handled rather easily. She became a bit over aroused during the tag test, mouthing the assessor with moderate pressure but remained soft and playful. Beauty displayed no interest in the any of the items on the resource portion of the assessment. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 3. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. She indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog becomes a bit over aroused during play and mouths the assessor with moderate pressure. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Dog licks hand. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back her paw. Food: 1. No interest. Toy: 1. No interest. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Beauty is eager to play with a respectful male dog. She is so excited to play and expend energy, she begins to run end to end of the pen. She appropiately corrects a sexually motivated male when he attempts to mount.

When off leash with other dogs, Beauty is eager to play with a respectful male dog. She is so excited to play and expend energy, she begins to run end to end of the pen. She appropiately corrects a sexually motivated male when he attempts to mount. 3/4 Update Beauty is very respectful towards a fearful male. Once the male begins to warm up, he attempts to initiate play and Beauty over-corrects. She does not appear to know how to properly correct other dogs and tends towards overcorrection. 3/9 Update While wearing a gentle leader, she is not interested in engaging with the other dog. She wanders the pen and is respectful to the other dog but not interested in interacting beyond the initial greeting.

From the foster: Simply put, Beauty is AMAZING. She is as sweet as they come and wants nothing more than to shower you (and everyone she meets) in love. She’s the biggest cuddle bug! She is completely content just napping on your legs while watching tv and cuddling under the covers with you is her favorite thing in the world. When she is ready for a snuggle, she will gently put her paw on your hand, practically diving under once you lift the covers to get close. On top of being the best cuddler in the world, Beauty is well trained, already knowing how to sit, come, stay and give paw. Right now she can get a little excited when she hears moment in the hallway, but we’re working on quieting down when she greets the noises with a bark. How awesome is that? Most of the hard work has already been done for you! If you do want to teach her more tricks, Beauty is incredibly receptive, listens very well, and seems to be easily trained. Good news for your carpets, Beauty seems to be potty trained, never having an accident when left alone outside of her crate. She also doesn’t get into any mischief and shoes can rest safely knowing they will not be slobbered over. She also has excellent leash manners, starting out at a fast pace and then slowing to a stroll. Right now, she’s very interested in small animals like rats and pigeons, so keeping treats handy will help focus her attention back on you and keep the walk going. Beauty loves to play fetch and has the most adorable little pounce that she does when she gets the toy! You can’t help but smile.Needless to say, Beauty has seriously stolen my heart and seeing her every day has filled me with such joy. She is absolutely adorable (just ask those who stop us to comment on how cute she is on our walks!) and she really loves everyone. She has met 4 different people so far while being with me and she treats everyone the same: giving hugs and kisses and licking their arms! (And they all can provide rave reviews about her as well!) With that, Beauty is looking for a home with someone (or even better, a family!) who can provide her with all of the attention and love that she deserves and ideally someone who will be around with her during the day more often than not. If you are ready for the PERFECT cuddle buddy and someone who will forever love you unconditionally and bring you happiness, Beauty is the one! I dare you to not instantly fall in love with her. smile emoticon
