I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 01/11/2017 from NY 11212, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2:1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, dog licks, then turns away. Summary: Barko showed no concerns on this handling assessment. Barko was surrender as a stray, so his past behavior with other dogs is unknown. When off leash at the Care Center, Barko displays neutral body langauge when greeting male and female dogs. He may attempt to mount both male and female dogs, but responds to handler interruptions and calmly explores the pens. He is not tolerant of playful dogs, walking over to play bouts and stiffening his posture. When a dog bounces by him, Barko nipped at his cheek. The Behavior Department recommends that Barko be placed in a home with calm resident dogs that do not engage in play. 1/11: Barko nervously greets a novel female. He is a bit sexual motivated but does not mount. As the session continues, he explores the pen, keeping to himself. 1/13: When greeting a male dog, Barko displays neutral body language. He greets briefly then walks away to explore the pen. He mounts the other male once, but responds well to handler interruptions and continues to explore the pen. 1/15: Barko was not tolerant of other playful dogs today. He continually walked over to their play bouts and stiffened his posture and at one point when a playful dog bounced by, Barko muzzle punched and nipped at his cheek.
