08/30/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Helper-Dog A1087435 Bapper was brought in to the care centers as a DOH hold due to him delivering a bite to his petsitter the first day he came in contact with him. He went to pet Bapper on his back when he turned his head and bit him on his right hand (near his thumb) and right leg (near his thigh). There is minimal history of behavior known in home, due to the nature of this intake, a profile was not obtained. During SAFER Bapper was intolerant of handling. Not all tactile items were able to be conducted as Bapper turned to bite the assessor on the hand; during look item. Bapper did bite the glove but there were no injuries to the assessor. He displayed no interest in any of the resource items during this portion of the assessment. When on leash for a dog interaction with another dog on leash Bapper did approach, with body relaxed and his tail neutral. In light of this behavior we feel that placement with a rescue that can provide positive reinforcement-based behavior modification is the best option at this time. Look: 5. Dog freezes and tries to bite. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.
