A volunteer writes: Kid, small dog and cat friendly!!! That face! That wiggle butt! That personality! Surrendered due to ‘no time’, we’re told that Bailey is friendly and outgoing, has lived with young children and was playful with them, and lived well with a 5 yo Shih Tzu as well as a cat who ignored him. Bailey likes attention so when visitors came he would bark so they would notice him, he likes to play tug of war, and with balls and squeaky toys, and is housebroken and well behaved when left home alone. He’s a gem, don’t you think? Bailey showed off his housetraining skills and good leash manners during our walk, has a nice puppy energy where everything is still magical. Don’t you wish we all still had that? He loves other dogs, play bowing to others through the fence and wanting to meet those we passed in the street. Bailey never stops wagging his tail, got a little mouthy in puppy play but no big deal and is so terrific to be with you can’t help but smile. His lush brindle coat is well groomed (he likes being brushed and bathed), and his crooked little tail is adorable to watch wagging at every little thing. Bailey’s got everything going for him except a home, so let’s complete his awesomeness and get him one! Come meet him today.
PROFILE:
Bailey A1062635 is an 11month old male brown brindle & white Staffordshire Bull Terrier mix who was left with the owner 7months ago and is being surrendered due to home size/no time. Bailey’s last vet visit was in 2014 and he currently has no known health issues/injuries.
Socialization:
Around strangers Bailey is friendly/outgoing. For the past 7months he hasn’t lived with children but he has seen the children he lived with in his previous home ages 6 & 8yrs old who he is playful and exuberant with. When Bailey sees them he pulls hard towards them and rushes to greet them. He’s lived with a neutered male 5yr old Shih Tzu and they are playful with each other. There’s also a neutered male cat that initially didn’t like Bailey but then began ignoring him. Bailey has never bitten/scratched any person or animal.
Behavior:
During storms/fireworks Bailey will sometimes bark, whine and or try to hide. He isn’t bothered by the following: having his food/food bowl, toys/treats touched/moved, being moved off of furniture or with being held/restrained. Bailey enjoys being brushed and bathed. He’ll bark when people come over so they can give him attention. Behaviors for the following are unknown: being disturbed while sleeping/resting or with having his nails trimmed.
For A New Family to Know:
Bailey is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, pushy (at times) & excitable with a medium-high activity level. Bailey likes to run and play especially tug of war. He enjoys ball, stuffed, squeaky, bone & bottle toys. Bailey’s mostly an indoor only dog who’s walked 1x a day where he pulls on the leash only if he sees the children from his previous home. He sleeps on a leather sofa and eats Beneful dry dog food 2x a day. Bailey is house broken and will only “go” indoors if someone takes too long to take him out. When left alone in the home or yard Bailey is well behaved. Bailey will be placed in a crate if a visitor who’s afraid of him visits. His known commands are “sit”, “come” & “go”.
Intake Behavior:
Bailey had a loose & wiggly body. He allowed all handling. Bailey allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of including sitting nicely when asked and liver treats were given (he loved them!) he took them gently as well from my hands. Bailey initially was hesitant to enter his kennel but once some treats were placed inside he walked in after them.
BEHAVIOR:
Bailey walks calmly on leash. He was calm and relaxed during handling and easily engages in play, body is loose and wiggly, mouth open. Bailey was not interested in toys.
