01/08/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: 10 years old, we’re told suffers from seizures although hasn’t had one while with us , lived with a Boxer, two adults and two young children and is playful and respectful to all. Miss Bailey was resting in her kennel, picked her head up when I opened her door, let me leash her and out she stepped. It’s clear that she was a beauty when she was young, but age has taken it’s toll on her coat. If she were a cashmere sweater I would say she’s a bit moth eaten, but where her coat is intact, which is most of her, it’s full, lush and soft. She walks spryly by my side, up and down stairs with no issue and is quiet and calm. We’re told she’s well behaved when home alone, likes baths, and likes to play with a ball. Bailey enjoyed some treats, and posed for some pictures. When she chose to sit by my side as I took some notes I took that as a supreme compliment. She’s gentle, easy, enjoyed some petting, and while her eyes are a bit cloudy, and she has a couple of callouses and skin tags everything is appropriate for an older dog. Bailey isn’t asking for much….just a soft bed, good food, and someone to love her. She’s so easy on the leash, and so grateful for attention paid, it’s a win when you adopt this sweet girl…..she’s known love and is looking for it again. Won’t you give her something to live for?
01/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Bailey came to us as an owner surrender. According to the owner Bailey lived with two children and was recorded to be respectful and playful towards everyone in the household. Bailey also lived with another dog in the home and was playful and tolerant towards that dog, but would keep her distance from dogs outside. Upon intake Bailey was recorded to be nervous and tense but allowed all handling when approached slowly. Bailey also allowed all handling during her medical examination without displaying any signs of aggression. Due to the possibility of discomfort, her overall medical condition, and our desire to decrease stress in the care center, the SAFER assessment will not be conducted at this time.
