Basic Information: Bailey was surrendered to the center due to owner moving out. He is a eight years old large dog. She had him since he was a puppy. She doesn’t have any health issues or injuries.
Previously lived with: Two adults and twelve children
How is this dog around strangers? He is friendly and outgoing. He plays in a gentle manner.
How is this dog around children? He lived with twelve children. He is relaxed, affectionate and playful around them.
How is this dog around other dogs? He has spent time with one dog. The owner stated that they used to play with each other.
How is this dog around cats? He didn’t live or spent time with cats however the owner stated that he chases them.
Resource guarding: He is friendly if his food or bowl is touched while eating, he is not bothered if an object or toy is taken away from him.
Bite history: No bite history with a person or animal.
Housetrained: Yes
Energy level/descriptors: High
Other Notes: He is not bothered if he is held or restrained nor if he is disturbed while resting. He is afraid of being bathed. He enjoys being brushed. The owner never trimmed his nails therefore behavior is unknown. He barks if someone unfamiliar approaches the house.
Has this dog ever had any medical issues? No
For a New Family to Know: He was described as friendly, affectionate and playful. At home, he tends to follow people around. He likes to play with balls. He was kept mostly indoors. He eats dry food and was fed once a day. He doesn’t have any favorite treats. He goes potty on grass and dirt. When he is left alone in the house and yard, he is well-behaved. He is not crate-trained. He knows the sit, come and stay command. For exercise, he is used to run. He pulls very hard when he is on the leash. The owner never took him outside without a leash.
Behavior Notes: Behavior upon intake: Bailey entered the room with a loose body and wiggly tail. The counselor was able to collar him and take his picture without any issues. After, he was soliciting attention from the counselor and she was able to pet him. Scanned negative for microchip.
