I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 04/08/2016 from NY 10457, owner surrender reason stated was PET HEALTH.

04/08/16 11:05 Baby is a 12 year old Shih Tzu. Her family got her from a friend and surrendered her due to her health. Baby has tumors along different parts of her body. Owner says sometimes she is in pain, and can no longer control her bladder. Baby’s appetite has been very minimal in the past month. Owner says she often just has a few bites of food and does not eat the rest.

Baby came in as an owner surrender on 4/8/2016. She walked nicely on leash for her relief walk, no pulling. Baby was calm and friendly upon entering SAFER assessment room. She allowed her head to be cupped in assessor’s hands during Look item, relaxed. She stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, body soft. Baby followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, soft. She pulled her paw back on both Squeeze attempts, lip lick on second Squeeze. Baby showed no interest in Toy. She approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, relaxed. Behaviorally, Baby would do well with an Average adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her ears are back, her tail is down, and she has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, and her tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft Squeeze 1 / 2: 2. Dog pulls back, lip lick. Toy 1. No interest. Dog – dog 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, and lip neutral
