KNOWN HISTORY: None 2/15/17 Intact Male, Stray Other notes: Auggie was briefly in his finder’s home, and the finder noted that Auggie was very friendly and behaved appropriately toward the finder’s child (age unknown). SAFER ASSESSMENT: 2/17/17 Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted. His ears are back, his tail is down, and he has a relaxed body posture. Dog allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity:1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag:1. Follows at end of leash, body soft but a bit distracted. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Toy: 1.No interest. Summary: Auggie was friendly and social towards the assessor. No concerns were seen on this handling assessment. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: Auggie was surrendered as a stray so his past behavior around dogs is unknown. He is tolerant of play solicitations and is respectful of nervous dogs. He displays soft body language throughout all interactions. Auggie has displayed great sociability towards other dogs while here at the Care Center, leading the Behavior Department to believe that he would do well with various personalities of resident dogs. 2/16: Auggie displays soft body language when greeting a novel female dog. He mostly keeps to himself as he explores the pen, tolerating the female’s face to face greeting. 2/17: Auggie mostly keeps to himself as he wanders in groups of playful male and female dogs as well as calm dogs. He displays soft body language throughout all interactions. 2/18: Auggie displays soft body language when greeting novel female dogs. He is tolerant of a male that attempts to mount him.
