Basic Information: Athena is a 4 year old female large mixed breed dog. She was bought from a breeder when she was a puppy. She was surrendered because her previous owner is moving and isn’t allowed pets in her new apartment.
Previously lived with: 2 adults
How is this dog around strangers? Around strangers, Athena is friendly and outgoing and exuberant at play with adults.
How is this dog around children? Athena has spent time with children from newborn to age 15. She was relaxed and affectionate and exuberant at play.
How is this dog around other dogs? Athena has spent time with all types of dogs and is playful and exuberant at play.
How is this dog around cats? Athena has spent time with a stray kitten for 1 day. She would lick the kitten and follow her around the house.
Resource guarding: If her food bowl was touched while eating, Athena moved over and was relaxed. She was playful if a treat or toy was taken away from her.
Bite history: Athena has never attempted to bite a person or animal.
Housetrained: Yes

Other Notes: Athena barks if she hears loud noises. She isn’t bothered if she is pushed off furniture, disturbed while sleeping, if her coat is brushed, or if her nails are trimmed. She is friendly if she is held or restrained, if she is given a bath, or if an unfamiliar person approached her home or previous owner.

Medical Notes : Athena was last seen by a vet 1 year ago. She has no known injuries or medical concerns.
For a New Family to Know : Athena is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, shy, and excitable. Her previous owner likes that she’s sweet. If her previous owner was home she would follow her around. She likes to play with squeaky and stuffed toys. She likes to play fetch and tug. She was kept indoor only and at night she slept in her previous owners bed. She ate dry Dog chow. She is house trained and never had accidents in door and is wee wee pad trained. She is well behaved when left alone indoors. She knows the cues, sit, and down, speak wait and up. She was taken on walks 2-3 times a day for brisk walks. She pulls on leash and off leash she stays by your side.
Behavior Notes: Athena had a wagging tail when approached and allowed me to pet and scan her. She licked my hand and had a relaxed body. She allowed me to collar her and take her photo. When she saw another dog in the lobby, she began to pull towards him and cry. When going in her kennel she hesitated and backed away. She stepped up into the kennel with her first two paws and after she was tapped on her back paw she went in.

Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. Allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands.
Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth.

Summary: Athena approached the assessor in the assessment room with a soft body and solicited attention by jumping up. She was social throughout the assessment, allowed all handling, and displayed no concerning behaviors.
PLAY GROUP :
3/6: When introduced off leash to the male greeter dog, Athena tolerate polite greeting and some play solicitation. When play becomes persistent, Athena offers a brief growl, then moves away.

She does not display this behavior outside of her kennel and it was not noted in her previous home.
