06/26/17 22:14 Basic Information: Ashton is a 13yr old small do who was a gift from a fiend. He has been kept in the same home since he was a few months old but unfortunately could not be kept due to his health and owners lack of time. Ashton has a ear and eye infection and was last taken to the vet at least 6 months ago for it. Socialization: Around strangers and children he is known as playful, respectful and relaxed. He plays very gentle with both adults and children. He has been socialized with cats and dogs and he is relaxed, respectful and gentle with them as well. No record of him ever biting another animal or person. Behavior: Ashton will use the bathroom both indoors and outdoors and anywhere he feels like he has to. He barks a lot when he wants attention or when he sees another dog to let the dog knows he sees him. He isn’t bothered during loud noises and reacts friendly to all situations> Whether its having toys, food or treats touched when he is eating, being bathed or having his nails cut, being hel or restrained, disturbed while resting or unfamiliar people approaching his home or owner, he is very friendly and welcomes everyone. For a New Family to Know: He is described as friendly, affectionate, somewhat playful, confident, independent and mellow. He has a medium activity level, rarely seeks attention when home with you, like to play with balls and bones, enjoys playing fetch and chase occasionally and has been kept indoors only. A volunteer writes: Ashton is very dear to me. We volunteers so often bond with the dogs we meet upon their arrival to the care center. Ashton is one of them. He came in quite matted and afflicted with a bad ear and eye infection that we have treated. Ashton has also been groomed and looks now really neat in his summer haircut. He does not appear at all his age, said to be 13!! Ashton is a bit bored in his kennel but wakes up at once when he is called. Leashed in no time, we find ourselves quickly in the street for a good walk around the block. Ashton keeps a clean den and does his business with some marking during his stroll. Other dogs are met properly and in playgroup. Ashton does what little dogs do best, minds his own business. He is a friendly and gentle character who enjoys the lap and the arms. He is a very pleasant little dog to spend time with. Ashton is with us for no fault of his own. His long standing owner is leaving for another country and can not take him along. Ashton comes with good recommendations, being good with kids, dogs, cats and strangers, is free of handling issues and well mannered when alone in the house. Ashton and us are now just waiting for that wonderful new owner fond of the elderly and who will welcome with love Ashton in his or her home. Another volunteer writes: Hello, humans! My name is Ashton, and I’m a 13 year old gentleman. Now, you may be doing the math and thinking that 13 is dog year is…well, I can’t do math because I’m a dog. And besides, age ain’t nothing but a thing–am I right? I’m a happy, affectionate guy, and I have a spring in my step and whole lot of sweetness and spirit packed into this little body! I love taking walks and spending time with my human friends. My vision isn’t so great, but I don’t let that bother me at all! I walk up and down the steps and back and forth to the park like a champ. When I’m not exploring the world, I like to snuggle up next to my human friends and chill out for a bit. If you’re looking for a calm, sweet, and lovable dude to be your new best friend, look no more–I’m right here!
