05/24/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Ashlyn came into the shelter as a stray, so her past behaviors in a home are unknown. Upon intake it was reported Ashlyn was excited and very affectionate with loose body posture. During SAFER Ashlyn came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, She was friendly and social towards the assessor. She allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Ashlyn was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resource portion of the assessment Ashlyn was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Ashlyn appears to be sociable, and did not display any behaviors concerns, so the department feels she can be suitable for an “Average” adopter. Look: 1. Dog’s eyes are averted, with tail wagging and ears back. She allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Or dog indicates play with huffing, soft ‘popping’ of the body, etc. Dog jumps on Assessor at the end. Squeeze 1 & 2: 1. Dog gently pulls back licks hand. Toy: 1. Dog settles down close to chew, will relinquish toy to you. Dog-Dog:Ashlyn was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior with dogs is unknown. 05/24/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Ashlyn was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior with dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Ashlyn is a bit nervous at first but solicits and engages in gentle play. She continues to engage in play with male and female dogs. The Behavior Department feels that Ashlyn would be suited to live with any type of dog, as long as the potential adopter’s dog is comfortable with her playful behavior. The Behavior Department feels Ashlyn is able to be adopted into a home with dogs that can engage in or manage her playful behavior. 5/25-5/26: Ashlyn engages in high energy, mouthy play in a group of male and female dogs.
