A volunteer writes: Ashford, a sophisticated name for my stately new friend. Handsome and elegant, my gorgeous brindle boy is happy to be out for a walk and makes going potty his very first priority. He’s a bit shy and timid so we chat as we walk, me telling Ashford what a good boy he is, and Ashford looking up at me seriously as he listens. He gets very excited when we pass another dog in the street, and in his first group playdate he greets the helper politely and engages in bouts of play. Ashford warms up to me nicely and off leash in the back his tail wags as other dogs pass our pen, and finally comes over to me for some petting. Showing off his sit (with some coaxing) Ashford softly takes his reward treat from my hand. With his gorgeous brindle coat, soft amber eyes which make easy eye contact, Ashford is a gentle quiet dog who needs a bit of time to feel comfortable in this new hectic environment. I hope he doesn’t get the chance to get comfy, as I’d rather see him wagging his tail by his new person’s side as he begins his happily every after. Ask to meet him when you visit.
