01/15/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Oh Mr Sandman, bring me a dream, make him the cutest that I’ve ever seen…Dreamcast more than lives up to his name and you’ll certainly be singing a happy song after spending some quality snuggle time with the best brindle boy in town. All grown up but still a puppy at heart, Dreamy LOVES to socialize and he’s ready to make friends with every person and dog he meets–whether they want to know him or not! He wags his tail and shakes his butt for large and small alike, trotting right up to other dogs kennels and leaning toward them in the street, totally oblivious to all but the joy of sharing his affectionate heart with a fellow four-legged soul. There must be some Hound up his family tree because he’s a champion sniffer, exploring the yard and sidewalks like a pro and taking care of all his business promptly before moving on to investigate the trail left by fellow pups. Dreamy hasn’t yet learned to ‘sit’ but he can ‘come’ for treats (and politely reject them), play a gentle game of fetch or tug and boy, does he know how to cuddle! Stand-up hugs, sit-down petting or lay-right-across-your-lap belly rubs, this guy does it all and he does it so so SO well. He’s a great fan of playgroup, polite when greeting other dogs yet boisterous in play, and performed very well in his behavior assessment too. If you’re an experienced adopter and an aficionado of big doggie lovin’ then look no further, Dreamcast is ready to bounce his way into your life–and your heart–just as soon as you’ll let him!
01/13/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Dreamcast pulls hard on the leash. He was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment – jumped up. dreamcast was overexcited during handling, jumping up, and was hard to position, but showed no aggression. He was excitable jumping on the assessor and body checks the Assessor with his mouth open and his body soft. Dreamcast took the toy with a soft body language. Dreamcast appears to be a high-energy dog that will likely do best with an adopter prepared to provide mental and physical stimulation and appropriate outlets for his energy. The behavior department feels that he may do best with an experienced adopter. We also recommend a home without young children; older children can be considered pending interaction. Look: 3. Dog jumps on the Assessor, consistently rubs his shoulder on the Assessor, and will not allow Assessor to conduct the assessment. Sensitivity: 2. Dog displays high energy and movement, but it is directed toward getting closer to the Assessor. His body is soft, likely panting, may jump up between attempts to lick Assessor. Tag: 2. Dog is not fearful, he did a lot of jumping up and body checking. Dog is often focused on other stimuli in the room. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Squeeze2: 1. Dog gently pulls back his paw. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Playgroup Notes: When off leash with other dogs, Dreamcast greets politely and engages inr unning play with the intent to mount.
