01/30/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/30/17 14:23 Arrow is an appx. 2 year old pit bull that was found tied up outside. Finder brought him for a short walk and fed him outside. She found him while she was walking her yorkie and she stated that Arrow was fine with being walked with her yorkie. Arrow enrterd shelter with high energy , loose body and tail wagging and erect. Arrow was easily excitable during intake and jumps onto councilor but allowed all handling and sits on command which made collaring, svcanning and pictures slightly easier.
02/02/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Shot through the heart. And I know who’s to blame. Really, one look at Arrow and I was a goner. A cup of hot cocoa, swirled with whipped cream and what winter’s day dreams are made of, I find 1 year-old Arrow sitting patiently in his kennel, the only movement his windshield wiper of a tail going “whoosh, whoosh, whoosh.” “Take me out please!” And with floppy ears and a button nose like that, who am I to not oblige? Off we go. Once we’re out…well–Arrow, he maintains the straight and narrow. He makes a beeline for the park (clearly he’s been here before). Once we arrive he has no problem being tethered and sits happily for treats provided I keep them coming! I do. But I soon find all Arrow’s true desires point to another direction…me! The moment I sit he joins me in my lap, throwing his white-stockinged paws flat across my knees. There with Arrow in my lap and his heart upon my sleeve, I’m feeling the love that’s for sure. No reason to wait on Cupid to bring you love this year. Arrow’s waiting in adoptions at Manhattan’s ACC.

He allows head to be held loosely in Assessor’s cupped hands. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, closed mouth. Tag: 2. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Jumps on and mouths Assessor. Squeeze 1: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. He does not place his body between you and the toy. Summary: Arrow was social throughout his assessment. He became quickly aroused during tag, jumping on and mouthing the Assessor. He was able to settle after tag. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: 2/1: When introduced off leash to other dogs in the care center, Arrow is forward upon greeting and rushes in while immediately soliciting play from the greeter dog. He is able to slow down with handler intervention and solicit play at a more polite pace. Arrow attempts to mount the greeter dog when play slows down. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 1/30/17 During his initial medical exam, Arrow was social and allowed handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Arrow so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. Arrow jumped up moderately on the assessor during the assessment. The jumping appeared to be aimed at getting closer to the assessor and aimed at soliciting attention. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
