03/05/17 15:08 BASIC INFO Armin A1105027 is a 1 year old American Pitbull Terrier Mix. 03/08/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Bulldog beefcake alert!!! Part pittie, part bully, and 100 percent hunky, an outing with Armin feels like a celebrity encounter. As we trot down the street together, all eyes turn our way to admire him–the kid’s got charisma! But he’s so much more than just a pretty face. Check out the notes from his former owner and you’ll find that behind those soulful eyes lies a sociable and tolerant family pet who accepted some pretty rough handling from his toddler brother, and even played respectfully with the cat. He does pull at times on leash but takes treats gently, comes and sits on command, seems very house trained, and is said to use weewee pads, too. He’s well-behaved when left home alone and loves a good game of fetch or tug-o-war and yes, he is used to getting a taste of whatever you’ve got on your plate, thank you very much! Despite some issues accepting strangers in the past, Armin has been nothing but friendly during his stay with us, and his intake notes accurately describe the ‘soft, relaxed body and wiggly tail’ that make him so endearing. Armin is a lover, not a fighter, and he can’t wait to turn your life from glum to glam. Ask to meet him today!

He did not respond to being called or to being touched, but focused on other stimuli. He allowed all handling. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: Armin may best benefit from slow introductions to polite dogs. He has displayed brief interest in interaction and play while in the care center. The previous owner of Armin did not cite history around other dogs. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 3/5/17 During his initial medical exam, Armin allowed handling. ENERGY LEVEL: Armin’s previous owner described him as having a high activity level. He is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm.
RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced adopter, adult-only home _X_No children (under 13): Due to Armin’s history of lunging at and being fractious with strangers, we feel that an adult-only home would be most beneficial at this time. Potential challenges: _X_Fearful/potential for defensive aggression (Reactivity towards other humans was noted by the previous owner (lunging, being fractious). Because this appears to present a challenge outside of the care centers, guidance from a professional trainer/behaviorist is highly advised to assess this behavior and modify/manage as needed.)
