Arlington
Hello, my name is Arlington. My animal id is #16683. I am a male brown dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 4 years 1 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a aco impound on 21-Dec-2017.
Arlington is at risk for behavior concerns (New Hope Only determination). Arlington has not acclimated well to the kennel environment and has allowed only minimal handling since intake. He displayed fearful behavior and this causes him to react defensively.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
A volunteer writes: Arlington might need a moment or two to loosen up, but once he does you’ll find you have a new shining star in your universe! He is SO sweet that my heart swells just thinking about him. He wiggles his entire back end when we make eye contact and does a little happy dance with his front paws before shimmying my way and continues to shimmy as he leans against me for pets, ensuring no spot is left un-pet! He pulls on leash, seems housebroken, and bats his paws in the air for treats before I can even ask (it’s the cutest! he knows “sit” and “down” too). He LOVES toys and will drop them in my lap when he’s ready for me to throw them again. He has a smile that belongs in the pages of calendars and topples over for belly rubs like there’s no tomorrow. He is a big lug AND a big love…please come see him at Brooklyn ACC!

Another attempt will be made the following day. 12/23: Handlers successfully collared Arlington today. Potential challenges: : Fearful/potential for defensive aggression
Potential challenges comments:: Fearful/potential for defensive aggression: Arlington has displayed fearful behavior in shelter, he displays no social behavior towards handlers and attempts to increase distance and avoid contact. Because he is so uncomfortable, Arlington does not tolerate any form of human-touch and has attempted to bite upon direct contact.
