02/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Archy was difficult to remove from his kennel showing teeth, growling. Once he was removed from his kennel he was stiff and did not show social behavior he immediately starts grabbing the rope with a stiff body language, biting toward my hands. Archy becomes aroused he is slow to de-escalate and he requires intervention to help redirect. The handler decided to place him back in his kennel he was difficult to handle. Due to the behavior demonstrated in the shelter the behavior department believes that Archy is not an appropriate candidate for SAFER at this time. The behavior department feels that he would do best if placed with a New Hope partner who can follow up on this behavior in a more stable environment and can provide any necessary behavior modification before placement into a permanent home. Playgroup notes: When off leash with other dogs, Archy greets briefly but is mostly distracted by his surroundings.
02/18/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Archy has only twice been introduced off-leash with other dogs, and has displayed different behaviors during both interactions. Archy was distracted during his initial play group interaction, but during his second interaction, began to solicit running play, becoming pushy with interaction. The behavior department recommends that Archy be given time to acclimate and become more comfortable in a new environment before being introduced to any resident dogs. He arrived into our care as a stray, so in-home behaviors with dogs are unknown. When off leash with other dogs, Archy greets briefly but is mostly distracted by his surroundings. 2/20 update: Archy engages in running play but can be pushy, continuously soliciting when the other dog loses interest.
