A Volunteer Writes: “Apple of my heart,” someone who knows Apple coos as I go to take her out, and it takes approximately 3 seconds to understand why she has compliments being hurled at her. She’s such a joy to be with that even knowing she has been walked 30 minutes earlier volunteers take her out again. Who doesn’t want to be kissed, and hugged, and escorted perfectly on a leash, and lavished with kind love and attention? What a girl! Please consider making Apple a part of your home, and you will never, ever view “taking the dog for a walk” as a chore, we promise!

A volunteer writes:
Apple is in her kennel clamoring to go out. There was no resisting this sweet girl so out we went. Apple is dressed in a gorgeous mahogany color coat, she’s leggy and lanky with a wagging tail and spry walk. She’s super friendly, thrilled to have a person to roll into for cuddles, burying her head in my chest for optimum closeness. She appears to have had puppies once upon a time, but has regained her girlish figure! Apple’s “happy place” is as close as she can get for some good loving. Off leash in the backyard she does a bit of exploring, gives a half hearted run at a tennis ball, but quickly comes in for more cuddles. Apple will be the best snuggle partner you’ve ever had… Ask to meet her today.
Another volunteer writes:
What a little treasure! This sweet girl is simply unforgettable and once you’ve met her, a piece of your heart will always belong to Apple. Though she’s officially a grown-up, Apple still has the bouncy personality and smaller frame of a puppy and I can’t help laughing as she springs about the pen or leaps onto my lap for cuddles. She’s always eager to play and snuggle and her helicopter tail whirs in delight whenever a new person or dog enters the yard. It looks like Apple hasn’t seen a decent meal in quite some time and she’s understandably eager for food, taking treats firmly from my hand but never snapping. She throws in some adorable begging ‘play bows’ (as if I wasn’t already planning to spoil her!) and we enjoy a game of drop-treat-catch-treat in which she earns a perfect score. In the 3 years they had her I don’t think Apple’s former owners gave her any training or guidance. Despite their neglect, she knows to use the bathroom when we get outside and with her love of humans and the right motivation (treats of course) I could easily picture this wee girl zipping round an agility course like a pro. Starved of food and hungry for love, Apple is a heart-breaker and a laugh-maker all rolled into one adorable package and she is going to make her new family so very happy.
