03/02/15 19:02 BASIC INFO Apollo and Island were adopted from AC&C separately by members of their owner’s family 2 years ago. She got them from her sister and aunt respectively. She surrendered them because she lost her home and can’t find pet friendly housing. PEOPLE Apollo and Island are friendly with strangers and haven’t bit anyone. They lived with a 2-4 year old child that was rough with them. They were relaxed, playful, tolerant, and played gently with her. ANIMALS Apollo is friendly with all dogs. Island barks at first and needs time (~1 day) to adjust to new dogs. She tries to attack small dogs outside. Apollo and Island play exuberantly and sleep together. PERSONALITY Their owner describes them as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, and excitable. Island is cuddly, relaxed, and sleeps most of the day. She’s low energy indoors but plays outside. She catches mice. Apollo is full of joy and never gets upset. He’s medium energy. They both love people including/especially children. They sometimes follow their family around but also rest in favorite comfy places. They both like ropes. Apollo also likes balls and can hold 2 soft balls in his mouth at once. They play fetch, chase, and tug. HABITS They lived inside and slept in bed with their owner. They ate dry Nutro Ultra dog food and got bones as treats. They went for brisk walks and pottied anywhere outside. TRAINING Island is well housetrained. Apollo is mostly housetrained. He drinks and urinates a lot and can’t hold his bladder for very long. He’ll usually use wee wee pads in between walks. They’re otherwise well-behaved and do well in their pop-up crates when they’re home alone for up to 10 hours/day. They know “sit” and pull on their leash. BEHAVIOR Island will chew pants’ crotches if they’re left on the floor. She and Apollo are friendly with strangers that approach their home/family. They don’t mind if someone takes their food/bone/toy, moves them off furniture, wakes them up, bathes, brushes, or holds/restrains them. Island doesn’t mind having her nails trimmed but Apollo is afraid and gets his trimmed at the vet/groomer. They don’t mind storms. INTAKE Apollo and Island had loose wiggly bodies, open mouths, and wagging tails during handling-scan (+), collar, switching leashes, petting. Apollo was more excited-panting quickly, eyes and ears red. They barked at and pulled towards other dogs that passed.

A volunteer writes: Our Apollo is so gorgeous it’s easy to imagine him morphing into the mythical Apollo, with his lyre in hand and the Muses encircled at his feet! Like the handsome Greek god, our Apollo possesses elegant and youthful manners designed to win friends, canines and humans alike. On our walk, Apollo makes me laugh with a slight indiscretion. He tries very hard to meet a lovely female canine sporting a red scarf from the care center, prompting me to wonder if her name was Daphne! Having been surrendered to us when his owner could no longer keep him, Apollo joins us with wonderful comments such as he is housetrained, friendly with children and strangers, and playful with other dogs. His owner also mentions that Apollo might be vocal around other dogs and people, but on our walk at the park where he met a number of different dogs and people, Apollo was quiet and well-behaved. Having aced his behavior assessment, Apollo should be a wonderful addition to most families. So ask for Apollo today! Let him lord over your life! Another volunteer updates: What Mr. Apollo is missing in his cropped ears he more than makes up for with his gorgeous ear to ear smile…. Adopted from us a while ago, and recently returned as his family lost their home, we’re told that what they like best about Apollo is that he is “FULL OF JOY AND NEVER GETS UPSET”. We’re also told that he loves people, especially children, having lived with a 2 and a 4 year old, likes to play with a ball, likes all dogs, and is friendly to all. I’ve seen Apollo playing with other dogs and he’s terrific – playful, respectful to all. He seems to love people equally, stopping his dog play to give the play group moderator a stand up hug, and then going back to play. He’s gorgeous in his well groomed caramel color coat, his eyes sparkle with intelligence, fun and love. He’s hoping for a new start with a new bestie……ask to meet our sweetheart today.
