08/08/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/08/16 13:11 Basic Information: Anubis is a 4 year old neutered male Pit Bull that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Anubis for 4 years but had to surrender due to personal problems. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers Anubis is friendly and playful. He likes to say hi to everyone and give kisses. He has never been around small children therefore behavior is unknown. Owner had a cat in the home & stated that he was always respectful of her cat. Anubis has been around other big dogs before and was tolerant around them as well. He has never bit another animal or person while in the care of the owner. Behavior: Anubis is friendly when someone would take away his food, treats or toys, being given a bath or when unfamiliar people would approach the family member and Anubis. He is not bothered by being pushed off furniture. When someone unfamiliar would approach the home, Anubis would bark until that person would pet him and say hi. Owner has never tried to brush his coat or hold/restrain him. For a New Family to Know: Anubis is described as playful, pushy, excitable, affectionate, feaful of loud noises, independent and friendly with a very high activity level. In the home, he would always follow the owner around and like to be in the same room as the owner. Anubis was kept indoors only and is mostly house trained. He would have a few accidents a month if the owner did not walk him on time. Anubis is crate trained and would stay there when owner would leave the house or else he would destroy household items. Owner did not have a yard so she is not sure how he would be if left alone in the yard. For exercise, owner would take Anubis on slow walks on the leash. Anubis pulls very hard on the leash. Owner has tried talking him off leash and stated that he would wander but come back when his name was called. Anubis knows the commands sit, heel, and stay. Owner stated that whenever she got him toys, he would destroy them. His favorite toys are rope and sticks. In the home, owner fed Anubis both wet & dry food brand name Alpo or Pedigree. Behavior during intake: Anubis was relaxed during intake. When I approached him, he jumped on me, body relaxed. I was able to scan him for a mc, and take his picture without any issues. I was not able to collar him due to him jumping around too much.

08/19/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: It’s hard not to laugh while looking at this picture of Anubis… Tie on, tongue out, tail going a mile a minute… The original plan was to get him sitting on the bench straight with the tie on… we where going for regal… but we got party, frat boy instead!!! LOL. Anubis is a fun, energetic dog I just love him!!! If your looking for a new fun friend look no further Anubis is ready and waiting at the Staten Island Care Center.

08/09/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Anubis came into our center as an owner surrender due to owner being hospitalized. Owner reports Anubis lived with a cat, respectful. Reportedly tolerant around other large dogs. Behavior around small children is unknown. Owner states Anubis is friendly when someone would take away his food, treats or toys. Anubis is reportedly mostly house trained, would have a few accidents a month if the owner did not walk him on time, crate trained and would stay there when owner would leave the house or else he would destroy household items. Owner stated that whenever she got him toys, he would destroy them. His favorite toys are rope and sticks. Anubis knows the cues sit, heel, and stay. Anubis is described as playful, pushy, excitable, affectionate, fearful of loud noises, and independent. During intake, he was relaxed and affectionate, allowed all handling. Anubis was friendly, loose and wiggly upon entering SAFER assessment area. He pulled out of assessor’s hands on all three Look attempts, jumped up onto assessor. Anubis leaned into assessor during Sensitivity item, open mouth, tail wagging. He followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, a bit distracted. Anubis did not pull his paw back on both Squeeze attempts. He showed minimal interest in Toy. Anubis approached the helper dog at an appropriate pace, tail at spine level, relaxed. The Behavior Team feels Anubis would do best with an Average adopter who can provide daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of walks, runs, exercise, play. He should continue with crating to decrease any destruction of household items when alone in the home as previously reported. Anubis would do best with durable toys such as Kongs and Nylabones due to his history of destroying soft plush toys. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 2. Follows at end of leash, body soft, a bit distracted Squeeze 1 / 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed Toy: 1. Minimal interest in Toy, sniffs, then turns away. Dog-dog: 2. Dog approaches helper dog with tail at spine level, body not stiff, ears relaxed, lip neutral.
