01/27/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Anubis previously lived with adults and teenagers 12 and 17 years old. The owner stated Anubis is playful and relaxed towards everyone in the household. The owner mentioned Anubis is house trained, has a high activity level and well behaved when home alone. The owner describes Anubis as friendly, affectionate, playful, pushy, and excitable. At intake it was reported Anubis had loose body posture and was jumpy, he allowed all handling. During SAFER Anubis came into the assessment room loose and wiggly, he was friendly and social towards the assessor, allowed all handling items to be conducted without issue. Anubis was relaxed during the tag interaction, and during the resources portion of the assessment Anubis was easy to handle when engaged with the item. Anubis can be uncomfortable around other dogs, when off leash with other dogs Anubis greets the helper dog with stiff body posture and a hard stare. Anubis is muzzled when entering the pen he then will growl, lunge and mounts the helper dog. Due to some concerns with Anubis being uncomfortable with other dogs, the behavior department feels he can be suitable for an experience adopter and we also recommend being the only pet in the house hold. Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, his eyes are averted, and his tail is in neutral position with relaxed body posture. Dog’s mouth is likely closed for at least a portion of the assessment item. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back his paw. Squeeze 2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. His eyes are averted and his ears are relaxed. Toy 1: No interest. Dog-dog: When off leash with other dogs, Anubis greets the helper dog at the fence with a stiff posture, hard stare and several barks. Due to this behavior, Anubis is muzzled before being introduced off leash. Once let into the pen, he growls, lunges and mounts while muzzle punching the helper dog. The dogs are separated and the interaction ended. 1/28 update: It has been reported last night and today that Anubis is extremely reactive in-kennel and out. He also is cage rattling, grabbing the bars and shaking with his teeth, spinning and consistently barking. The Behavior Department feels that he is rapidly deteriorating in the Care Center and should be placed immediately, for both is welfare and the safety of staff.
