08/02/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/02/16 10:08 Annie was found by the NYPD tied outside to a pole with Cypress (A1083762) Both dogs were very social and energectic with the police officers. Annie was very loose body and social while in the admissions office. She is very treat motivated and sat on command when a treat was presented to her. When no treat was present, Annie was very interested in exploring the office and attempted to jump on the counter for more treats. She would also bark and whine when she was unable to visually see Cypress. She allowed petting and kept nudging the counselors hand looking for more treats
08/05/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Annie is my kind of girl–tough but loving, opinionated, a bit rough around the edges and loyal…a lioness!! She was found as a stray together with lovely Cypress. They share the same silly smile and beautiful red coat. Annie is waiting at her door. She is leashed in no time and rushes to the street. She pulls quite a bit, does her business at once and lets me know that she prefers to go in some directions and not in others. She is a little stubborn and I have to argue with her to make her do what I want. Annie sits beautifully on command, though, loves my treats, poses nicely for pictures and meets very peacefully other dogs, big and small. I was told that she offered a very strong correction in playgroup to a well-intentioned young male. A mature lady like herself would rather meet with a gent her age. We had our quiet time together in a remote part of the care center. Annie squeezed tightly and gently against me, accepted caresses and offered plenty of kisses in return. I know she could be a great pet and forever best friend. Annie is at the Manhattan Care Center.
08/04/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Annie came to the care center as a stray so we have no history of her in a home. Upon intake, her body was loose and she was social. For her relief walk, she pulled hard on leash. When entering the assessment room, she was calm and social. For the Look item, her ears were back and body a bit tense. Annie’s body was a bit tense during handling, she was lip licking and her tail was down and ears back. She was a bit fearful for Tag and turned toward the assessor’s hand, approaching at the end of the leash. For Squeeze she did not pull her paw back and lip licked. She initially sniffed Toy and then turned away from it. The Behavior Team recommends an Experienced home. Annie would benefit from a slow, calm introduction where she can warm up at her own pace. Look: 2. Dog’s eyes are averted. Her body is a bit tense. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her tail is down and body a bit stiff. She leans into the touch. Tag: 2. Dog is a bit fearful, turns towards hand at one point when touched. Approached at end. Squeeze 1/2: 1. Dog does not respond at all for three seconds. Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog sniffs toy and then walks away. Dog to Dog: When off leash with other dogs, Annie offers strong defensive correction when approached.
08/03/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
8/3: When off leash with other dogs, Annie offers strong defensive correction when approached. Annie arrived as a stray, so ni home behaviors with dogs are unknown. The behavior teem feels that Annie may be most comofortable as the onyl resident dog in a home.
