I am a spayed female br brindle and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 4 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a OWNER SUR on 01/14/2017 from NY 11208, owner surrender reason stated was MOVE2PRIVA.

01/14/17 13:26 Angel is a 6 year old Female , American pit-bull, She came to the previous owner’s home as a gift from a friend . The owner had Angel for since she was a puppy. She is being surrendered today because the owners are moving and the landlord does not allow pets in the home. Angel has no known health issues or injures, and has not recently been seen by the vet. Socialization: Around strangers Angel is very friendly and playful as she pulls on the leash to try and greet the individual. She has lived with children, of ages 2-13. Around the children she very energetic but she plays gentle. Angel has been around other dogs when a family member brings their dogs to the home. Around female dogs Angel is very playful and friendly with the females, often chase each other around, however around male dogs she feels uneasy and when they try to sniff her she will growl or even snap at times Behavior: During Storms or fireworks, Angel isn’t bother and is usually calm. If an individual tries to put their hand in or attempt to touch Angel’s food or bowl she isn’t bothered and allows it to be removed. When someone tempts to take way a treat or a toy Angel isn’t bothered. During bathing and brushing Angel is slightly tense but will allow individual to wash and brush her. When an unfamiliar person or family member comes to the house Angel will try to greet the individual at the door and engage in play. For a new family: Angel was described as playful, affectionate, and friendly by previous family. She has a very high activity level and often enjoys playing tug-a- war with a rope. If she is giving a stuffed animal she tends to destroy it. While someone is home she tends to stay on her bed. Angel is feed dry Pedigree vegetables/ beef 1-2 times a day, and he is house trained and will have accidents inside the house if she isn’t taken out in time. She is kept both indoors and outdoors. While she’s inside she uses the wee-wee pads, outside she uses bathroom twice a day in the grass. When she is left alone in the yard she mostly plays with her toys and rolls around in the yard. Angel has never been crate trained, and while on leash she pulls hard. She knows commands like sit, and stay for exercise she plays in the yard. She is only taking off- leash in the yard and park she will run around but if you call her name she will come back to owner’s side. Upon intake Angel was excitable during intake. She allowed all handling.

Behavior toward cats: Unknown FG/RG:None reported Bite history: None reported Housetrained: Angel is housetrained Energy level/descriptors: Other notes: SAFER ASSESSMENT: 1/17/17 Look:2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity:2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is down, body a bit tense with her mouth closed. Tag:1. Follows at end of leash, body soft and jumps up for the leash. Squeeze 1& 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Toy: 1. Minimal interest in toy, dog licks, then turns away. Summary: Angel was friendly and social towards the assessor, she did best upon a slow approach and displayed no concerns. PLAYGROUP: Angel’s previous owner reported that she is playful with them but around male dogs she may growl or snap when they sniff her. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Angel initially engaged in gentle play with a playful male dog. She was uncomfortable in a group of playful dogs, correcting dogs that solicit play and mounting a female dog. She is able to display soft and social body language when interacting with a calm male dog. The Behavior Department believes that Angel would do best with a calm, male resident dog, but a dog-dog interaction can be conducted with a potential adopter’s female dog. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 1/14/17 During her medical examination, Angel was friendly and allowed all handing. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (Suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience) _x_Recommend no dog parks ( Due the behavior Angel has displayed towards female dogs –mounting and placing her mouth on their neck- the Behavior Department recommends that Angel not be taken to dog parks. The Behavior Department recommends reward-based, force-free training only to desensitize and counter-condition Angel using toys or treats to help Angel associate other dogs with positive experiences.)

Angel’s previous owner reported that she is playful with them but around male dogs she may growl or snap when they sniff her. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Angel initially engaged in gentle play with a playful male dog. She was uncomfortable in a group of playful dogs, correcting dogs that solicit play and mounting a female dog. She is able to display soft and social body language when interacting with a calm male dog. The Behavior Department believes that Angel would do best with a calm, male resident dog, but a dog-dog interaction can be conducted with a potential adopter’s female dog. 1/15: When off leash with male helper dog, Angel greets him with a wiggly body and some whimpering. She engages in gentle bouncy play with him and is tolerant of his mouthy play on her face and neck. 1/18: In a group of playful male and female dogs, Angel displays uncomfortable body language and offers correction when they dogs solicit her to play. She displays stiff body language when greeting a female and begins to target her by following her around the pen, continuing to display stiff body language. She mounts the female dog and places her mouth over the other female’s neck. They are easily interrupted by the handers and Angel is removed from the session. 1/19: Angel displays soft and social body language when interaction one on one with a calm male dog.
