10/31/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: Aladdin is the dog with a million dollar smile! He has the greatest mug and is one of my most photogenic subjects. He is without any doubt super happy to see a human at his door. Indeed, he is a top of the line butt wiggler and tail wagger! His eyes really shine and he seems even to laugh. Aladdin is a very high energy dog, always in movement and pulling quite a bit on the leash although at times, he is pretty good. Even with tons of food around him, he will never be an overweight dog. He eliminates on the way and is not prey driven. He will sit on command for treats and give stand up hugs. Aladdin is very human friendly, loves caresses and is anxious to make the most of his time out with a caretaker. One wonders if he ever mingled with his peers or had positive experiences with them. He aims strongly at them and barks intensely when he sees another pooch, relaxing only when he or she is out of range. Aladdin will probably need a meet and greet with any potential canine housemate if he gets the chance to be adopted. A new home, a safe and structured environment and a loving master might just be Aladdin”s dream come true…Let’s rub the magic lamp and hope for the best!

He chases after the female greeter dog and eventually snaps/bites at her back. Aladdin is difficult to remove from the pen and continues to pull toward the other dog, vocalizing until out of the yard. The behavior department recommends that Aladdin be the only resident dog in a home at this time, until follow up outside of the care center. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 10/27/16 During his initial medical examination, Aladdin readily allows all handling without issue. ENERGY LEVEL: RECOMMENDATIONS: Experience Potential challenges: _X_On-leash reactivity/barrier frustration (During his stay at our care center, Aladdin has, at times, displayed a low threshold for dog reactivity and frustration on leash: hard pulling, barking, lunging, high-pitched vocalization. We recommend force-free, reward based training in a controlled environment when attempting to work/modify this behavior.) _X_Single-pet home (see playgroup) _X_Recommend no dog parks (see playgroup)
