01/09/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
01/09/16 15:20hrs Aissis is described as hyperactive, affectionate and friendly. She lived with adults only but would interact with children aged 3 and 4 years old. She was playful with them, jumping on them and attempting to kiss them. She lived with a male dog named Bluebari and is playful with him. When she notices other dogs, outside she begins to pull towards them in attempt to play with the other dog. BEHAVIOR Aissis is accustomed to being bathed at home. She will sit still but attempt to drink her bath water. Aissis isn’t bothered by having her food touched while eating. She and the male dog would eat at the same time sometimes sharing the same bowl. Aissis owner stated that she is in constant motion. She will lie down but is easily excited and will get up and start walking around soon after. When there are visitors in the home, she will jump up on them attempting to give hugs and kisses but she and Bluebari would be placed in their room because of the constant attention they give. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Aissis enjoys playing with hard balls and running around with Blue. Her owner stated that she will play rough with him, sometimes nipping him too hard but never drawing blood. She knows the command “sit” and “down.” She is accustomed to being walked for at least 2x a day for 15 minutes at a time. She is always walked on leash. She is accustomed to eating Pedigree wet and dry dog food but not the Beef Stew flavor. Bluebari is afraid of plastic bags and will run if one is near him. He sleeps on his blanket in his own room. DURING INTAKE Aissis was very energetic. She attempted to jump up on the Admissions Counselor repeatedly. She would lick the Admissions Counselor’s hand and softly nip as well, without breaking skin. She was scanned for a microchip(negative) collared and photographed without displaying any negative behavior.
01/12/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: On alert in her kennel, Aissis is an active watcher – her head follows the activity passing her kennel and you know she’s waiting for an invitation to come out to play. Once outside she runs in the pen, checking it all out, greeting both people and other dogs that pass and jumping up in play. Surrendered with her housemate Bluebari (A1062592) we’re told she’s interacted with very young children, playful and jumping on them in an attempt to kiss. She wants to play with every dog she sees outside, shared her food bowl with her housemate, and sometimes played too roughly with him. I’ve dubbed her “the investigator”, as everything gets her attention and everything needs to be investigated. Aissis is looking for a very active home, space to run and play, and some positive reinforcement training to teach her that there is a nicer way to greet people than jumping on them.
01/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Aissis came into our center along with a large dog, playful. It is reported she lived with adults only but would interact with children ages 3 and 4, playful and jumping up. It is reported Aissis is not bothered if you touch her food bowl, would eat out of the same bowl with other dog. Owner reports Aissis is fearful of plastic bags and will run away from them. During intake, Aissis was very energetic, attempting to jump on admissions counselor repeatedly. Aissis pulled on leash for her relief walk. She jumped up to lick assessor’s face during Look item. Aissis stood still and accepted the touch during Sensitivity item, lip lick, mouth open. She followed at the end of the leash for Tag game, body soft, settling easily at end. Aissis jumped up on assessor a bit hard while positioning for Squeeze item. She moved her body away during Squeeze attempt, soft body. Aissis had no response to both Flank attempts. She showed minimal interest in Toy. Aissis did not approach the helper dog, exited. The Behavior Team feels Aissis would do best with an Experienced adopter. She may benefit from obedience classes to learn leash manners and not to jump up. Aissis is a high energy dog who would benefit from daily mental and physical stimulation in the forms of daily walks, runs, exercise, play as well as durable toys such as kongs and nylabones to positively direct her high energy and enthusiasm. Look: 1. Dog jumps up to lick the Assessor’s face with tail wagging, ears back and eyes averted. Sensitivity: 2. Dog stands still and accepts the touch, her eyes are averted, her tail is between her legs, mouth open, lip lick. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1: 3. Dog is soft in body and eye, and moves her legs/body so that the Assessor is unable to hold the paw Flank squeeze 1 /2 1. Dog does not respond at all. Toy 1. Minimal interest. Dog smells, licks and mouths, then walks away. Dog – dog 2. Dog does not approach the helper dog, exits.
