A Volunteer Writes: If you come to meet Afiya, be ready to commit–this is one irresistible girl! With her little furrowed brow and her perfectly floppy ears and wiggly body, her charm starts with her looks….but it is so much more than skin deep. She prances on a leash, and she dances on benches in the park, jumping up! back down to the ground…up! back down to the ground, as we stroll along. She takes treats with such ladylike manners you would think she was living a life of plenty. Afiya looks like she has been beautifully taken care of and she has the manners to show it: Just watch her shake both paws! Afiya is waiting for you, practicing her ambidextrous high fives, at MACC.

A volunteer writes: Delicate features and a glowing coat, perfectly applied eye liner, pretty flower necklace…looks like someone’s ready for the spotlight! Beautiful Afiya is all dressed up with nowhere to go but straight into my lap for snuggles and though she can be a little shy at first, a gentle approach and some tasty treats win her over in a flash and soon she’s all smiles and perked ears, the perfect doggie model. She’s happy to share everything with her friends and enjoys playing with toys but doesn’t guard them, takes food delicately from my hand and sits on command to do so and is always polite toward passing pooches and bouncy and playful off leash in a group. Sweetness with just the tiniest dash of sass, that’s our Afiya! Now that she’s passed her behavior assessment with flying colors this golden girl is ready to move into a new forever home tout suite and she’ll make a wonderful pet for any family as affectionate and gentle as she is. Afiya just wants to be wanted and she welcomes siblings old, young or in-between, two-legged or four–the more people and pups for her to love, the better! Come see what your family’s been missing at our Manhattan Care Center, Afiya just can’t wait to meet you.
