08/05/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
08/05/17 18:29 Achilles is a gray and white male, large dog. He was found in his owner’s previous residence with some water. He had a black, leather harness next to him in the home. Behavior During Intake: Right when the finder and Achilles walked into the receiving center he lifted his leg and peeed on the floor. During the intake he moved around wagging his tail a lot and jumping to reach the top of the counter and knocking things over. He was very alert and wiggly but allowed all handling like collaring and getting his picture taken.

08/08/2017 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: It was pouring, so I asked Achilles if he really wanted to go out in that mess, and his answer was a resounding ‘YES’. He’s such a good sport, seems to be housetrained, has lovely leash manners, and didn’t mind being tethered for pictures, even in the wet. He smiles, and every once in a while his upper lip gets caught in a tooth–talk about goofy-looking! Tail waggy and friendly, he pulls towards other dogs we see, ready to have a play date. On his first official play date, he greeted politely with a sniff, and then wandered the pen. Later in the day we caught a brief respite from the rain, and Achilles and I hung out in the yard, Achilles posing for more pictures with dignity (not dripping wet), and gives me his gorgeous Mona Lisa smile. He sits immediately for a treat, taking it gently from my hand. Achilles has a healing boo boo on his back, is the perfect weight for his size, and his laughing, sweet and sometimes serious eyes tell a social story. He loves meeting new people, wowing staff already with his immediate sit for a treat and readiness to make new friends. Shouldn’t you be among them? Come meet him today.

He has not yet been itnroduced to a male in our care. At this time,t he behavior department feels Achilles may be most compatible with social or tolerant female dogs. Follow up on behavior around other male dogs should be conducted to respectful dogs at a slow pace. INTAKE BEHAVIOR Upon intake, Achilles had a wiggly body, was active, and allowed all handling. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 8/5/17 During his initial medical exam, Achilles was active, social, and allowed all handling. ENERGY LEVEL: We have no history on Achilles so we cannot be certain of his behavior in a home environment. However, he is a young, enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
