11/04/2016 WEB MEMO
A volunteer writes: How do you spell goofy good times and endless amusement? A-C-A-D-I-A! Like a 65 pound puppy, this stunning gal romps through life on oversized (webbed!) paws, and her gentle heart is big enough to welcome everyone she meets with loyalty, love and friendship. Acadia adores people, dogs, food, toys, running, jumping or just chilling out, and there’s no date with her that doesn’t end in an adorably skitter-footed game of tag. Hugs? She’s got ’em! Kisses? Plenty for everyone! Great at sharing her things? You bet! She seems to be house trained, her social skills are top notch, and while she does get jumpy on leash at times, Acadia’s a smart young lady and quickly learned that being a good girl would earn her a treat. She not only stopped leaping in the air but started showing off her ‘sit’ in the middle of our walk in hopes of another reward! A family-friendly dog with a heart of gold just waiting for someone to recognize what a priceless treasure she is, Acadia is simply wonderful, and to meet her once is to love her forever…I hope that’s just what you’ll do.
11/03/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Unknown [Unaltered, Stray] HANDLING ASSESSMENT: Due to her medical condition, Acadia is not currently a candidate for a SAFER format assessment. However, in her time in the care center Acadia has allowed handling all over her body, including a thorough cleaning of a deep wound requiring minimal restraint. When discomfort increased, Acadia made a brief and gentle effort to push out of the bear hug with one leg, but she put up little argument and stopped quickly. She has tolerated numerous intensive medical examinations with minimal restraint, remaining social and affiliative throughout. Summary: no concerns have been noted through repeated hands-on exams and interactions. DOG-DOG INTERACTION ASSESSMENT: Summary PLAYGROUP: 10/31/16: When introduced off leash to other dogs in the care center, Acadia is highly playful. She bounces around exuberantly with the helper dog, mouthing and offering paw slaps. 11/2/16: Acadia is exuberantly playful, and engages in wresting, mouthy play with both male and female dogs. MEDICAL Behavior: [11-1-16] During her initial medical examination, Acadia readily allows all handling without issue. ENERGY LEVEL: Acadia plays exuberantly with other dogs and has been gentle with her handlers. She pulls hard on leash, but appears to funnel her energy appropriately. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of experience)
10/31/2016 GROUP BEHAVIOR EVALUATION
Exam Type GROUP BEHAVIOR
Acadia engages in bouncy, puppy-like, play with male and female dogs. She is exuberant but will slow down if the other dog offers correction. She bounces around exuberantly with the helper dog, mouthing and offering paw slaps. 11/2: Acadia is exuberantly playful, and engages in wresting, mouthy play with both male and female dogs.
