I am a female tan and white am pit bull ter mix. The shelter thinks I am about 1 YEAR 7 MONTHS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 12/19/2016 from NY 11233, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

12/19/16 12:40 Upon intake Blueberry had a high energy level she wagged her tail and jumped on cousnelor. When counselor reached Blueberry to scan she began to retreat and hide underneath the officers. Blueberry moved away from cousnelor when trying to collar and was given treats, she had a wiggly body. She allowed handling, counselor was able to collar, scan (negative) and photograph.

Blueberry was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. When off leash with dogs at the Care Center, Blueberry solicits and engages in gentle play with male and female dogs. She becomes slightly assertive with a female puppy, placing her chin on her back and attempting to mount. With further playgroup sessions, Blueberry is tolerant of play solicitations but does not engage. The Behavior Department believes that Blueberry would be most comfortable with adult dogs with varying personalities.

KNOWN HISTORY: N/A Intact female, Stray SAFER ASSESSMENT: 12/21/16 Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Follows at end of leash, body soft. Squeeze 1/ 2: 2. Dog gently places her open mouth over the Assessor’s hand without applying pressure. Toy: 1. Dog settles close, keeps a firm grip and is loose and wiggly. She does not place her body between you and the toy. Summary: Blueberry was very active and continued to jump up on assessor. She displayed playful behavior though was mouthy throughout the majority of the assessment. Blueberry may benefit from an active home where daily mental and physical stimulation is provided. PLAYGROUP: Blueberry was surrendered as a stray so her past behavior around dogs is unknown. She is able to listen to handler interruptions momentarily before displaying assertive posturing again. 12/22: In a group of playful male and female dogs, Blueberry stiffly bounces when she is solicited to play but does not fully engage. 12/27: When one on one with a playful male dog, Blueberry is tolerant of his play solicitations but does not engage. She spends most of her time seeking handler interaction.
