06/12/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
06/12/16 16:45 Basic Kiara was a gift from a family member overseas and the owner had taken care of her for over a year now. She was brought today because the owner no longer has the time to care for her. She has had no previous health issues or injuries. Socialization When Kiara is with strangers the owner states that she can be shy at first and will take some time before she would warm up to someone. She would be friendly and outgoing after some time past. Owner states that she has lived with a 6 year old and 12 year old at home and is great with them. She allows them to pull her ears and tail and would not react. Owner says that she would bark first to let you know if she does not like something. When playing with adults and children she is gentle and exuberant. She would paw at the person she wants to play with. She has never been around other dogs or other cats. She has never bitten anyone or any animal before. Behavior The owner states that she is well behaved at home alone and would bark when someone is at the door. She is not bothered by loud noises, storm, or fireworks. When touching or taking her food bowl or water bowl away for her she would bark and growl at the person. She is not bothered when someone takes her toy away. When being restrained, held, disturbed while sleeping, or getting a bath she is not bothered. The owner has never tried to trim her nails or brush her out, so they would not know how she would react. When someone unfamiliar approaches their home she would bark. For the new family to know The owner described Kiara as Shy, excitable, friendly, affectionate, anxious and territorial. She was described to have a medium activity level and loved to play with stuffed toys. The owner stated that she loves to entertain herself and would mostly be indoors. Kiara is wee-wee pad trained and would potty outside on the grass. She has never been crate trained nor has she ever been off leash outside. She would normally sleep in her own bed but if the owner is not around she would sleep the owner’s bed. Her own says that she does pull a little it. Intake During intake she had a tense body when trying to scan (-) and collar her. She showed a lot of teeth and growled. We were unable to collar her. She would show teeth when petting her butt area. She would start wagging her tail when we spoke to her in a high pitched voice.
