03/26/15 20:16 Dog Name: Zico Reason for surrender: Owner physically can’t take care of him due to size and strength Relationship: Owner had Zico for a year and 3 months. People: Zico lived with one adult and one teenager of the age of 15 years old. Zico was mostly around the 15 year old and listen to him beside the famle adult in the house. Owner stated Zico is usually tolerant around children and only barks when being aggressive owner stated. Owner stated Zico is not used to being around other people but hasn’t biting anyone. Other Animals: Owner stated Zico is relaxed and playful around other dogs but his behavior is unknown around cats. Personality/Habits: Owner state Zico is very affectionate. His activity level is high activity. He likes to play with Knee cap bones. Zico will growl and snap if someone takes away his treat or toys. He enjoys taking baths and being brushed. He barks or growls when unfamiliar people approach the house or yard. He likes to be in the same room as owner or follow owner around the house. Zico spends most of his time in a crate due to owner can’t handle Zico. He sleeps in his crate and someone sleep with owner in her bed. Owner stated Zico is playful, excitable and anxious when left alone. Training: Zico is very house-trained and mostly indoors. He goes for slow walks on a leash twice a day. If Zico is off a leash he will attempt to run away. When left alone in a yard he will destroy outside items and dig dirt. Zico knows commands such as sit, down, and stay. He does well in a crate for 4 hours. Zico had a behavior modification trainer which didn’t last long and still is hard to control owner stated. Feeding: Zico eats dry food twice a day and loves to eat cheese for treats. Behavior upon intake: Upon intake Zico came in a crate and was escorted to the back. He was nervous, barking and growling in the crate because he was around people he never saw before. No handling was able to be performed.

Helper Dog:A1031363 Zico previously lived with one adult and a teenager. He was reported to be only responsive to the teenager, and was said to be tolerant of children. He was reported to growl when strangers approach his yard or family, and will growl and snap when treats or toys are taken away. Zico was reported to be relaxed and playful around other dogs, and was said to have a high activity level. He was described as very affectionate, playful, excitable, and anxious when left home alone. It was mentioned that Zico is housebroken, and does well in a crate for 4 hours. At intake Zico was reported to be nervous, and would not allow any handling. He was also reported to be intolerant of handling during his medical exam. Upon entry to the assessment room Zico was very difficult to handle when on the leash. During SAFER he would not allow the assessor to safely collar him and consistently body checked the handler. Due to this behavior no handling items were attempted and only resources and dog-dog were tested at this time. Food: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Toy 1: 4. Dog freezes and growls. Rawhide: 1. No interest. Dog-dog: 3. Dog approaches the helper dog by rushing in with his tail high, stiff body, head tall, and ears erect.
