Hello, my name is Vj. My animal id is #7779. I am a desexed male white dog at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks i am about 5 years 2 weeks old.
I came into the shelter as a data import – incoming on 01-Oct-2017.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
A volunteer writes: I imagine VJ is short for Victor James or something similarly stately, but this guy is so friendly and such a goofball that he is on a nickname basis with everyone! He does a wiggly tap dance when you so much as glance at him in his cage and is always tons of fun to hang out with. He pulls some on leash (lots of exploring to do!), seems very housebroken, and is reported to be relaxed and playful around children. He’s previously lived harmoniously with another dog and has done well with others in our playgroups (he solicits play with spins and bounces!). He loves every kind of toy and is completely endearing when he plays with them: he throws them for himself, is quick to sprawl out with them, and makes adorable faces when he stumbles upon the squeaker in a stuffy. He has the best smile and would love to shower you with love every day…please come see him at Brooklyn ACC! <iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZYt0tiiLAlE” frameborder=”0″ allowfullscreen></iframe>
My medical notes are…
Weight: 63.375 lbs
Details on my behavior are…
SAFER ASSESSMENT: 9/24/17 Look: 2. Dog pulls out of Assessor’s hands each time without settling during three repetitions. Sensitivity: 1. Dog leans into the Assessor, eyes soft or squinty, soft and loose body, open mouth. Tag: 1. Dog assumes play position and joins the game. Squeeze 1: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Squeeze 2: 2. Dog quickly pulls back. Toy: 2. Dog takes toy away, keeps a firm hold. His body is between you and the toy, and he is loose and wiggly. No growling or stiffness. Summary: VJ displayed no concerning behaviors on his assessment and was social throughout. PLAYGROUP: When off leash at the Care Center, VJ displays sexually motivated behavior with both male and female dogs. He engages in cooperative play- offering quick spin and his rear. He briefly mounts other dogs, but is easily interrupted. VJ’s previous owner reported that he has lived and spent time with dogs and is respectful and playful with them. The Behavior Department recommends that VJ be placed in a home with resident dogs that are tolerant of his sexually motivated behavior and match his gentle play style. ENERGY LEVEL: VJ’s previous owner described him as having a high level of activity. He is an enthusiastic, social dog who will need daily mental and physical activity to keep him engaged and exercised. We recommend long-lasting chews, food puzzles, and hide-and-seek games, in additional to physical exercise, to positively direct his energy and enthusiasm. RECOMMENDATIONS: Average (suitable for an adopter with an average amount of dog experience)
